Q: What kind of gas do I use for my Cadillac DTS?

A: my freind has sts and runs 93 religiously, higher octane is always better

Q: What octan of gas does a cadillac DTS and DHS use.

A: it goes by years 80 -91 reglur

92 – 99 mid grade

2000 -1009 high test

Q: Which vehicle would use more gas, a Cadillac DTS(V8) or a Ford Mustang GT(V8)?
I am interested in getting either a Mustang GT or a Cadillac DTS, even though they aren`t in the same class of cars, one a sport car, and the other a luxury vehicle, i like both of them. now the Mustang GT that i saw was a V8 and the Cadillac DTS V8 is standard anyway, even though a Cadillac is larger than a Mustang both of them these particular vehicle are a V8 cyl.so which one would be better on gas, even though they are both gas guzzlers?

A: According to my sources, the Caddy gets 15/23 and the Stang gets 16/24. Shocking. Go for the stang.
Note: this is the 2009 DTS vs. the 2010 standard GT Mustang.
Hope this helps.
The reson for this is most likely because the Caddy has an automatic transmission, which uses more gas.

Q: Cadillac DTS Audi A6 or BMW 325xi?
I am going to be 16 and able to drive soon, and because of that my dad is buying a third vehicle. the price limit is $25,000, so i figured a used luxury/sports sedan would be the coolest in that range. With that said, out of an ‘06 Cadillac DTS, ‘06 Audi A6, or ‘06 BMW 325xi, which would be preferable or the “coolest” and why? Note, they are all almost identical in price.

A: If you can’t afford anything better, the 325xi is good enough. It has the AWD and reliability ratings that beat the Audi and Cadillac you mention.

While the BMW is your best bet, it’s not very impressive. The A6 is very good looking but Audi hasn’t impressed anyone with their reliability or crash test ratings in over 20 years. The Cadillac is just a GM vehicle and I’d avoid anything that’s built in a GM facility.

Q: A luxurious 02 Mercedes S430 at 90k miles for $20K, OR an 2002 Cadillac Deville DTS at 40k miles for $18k?
I’m looking to purchase a used auto around 20k. I like the 2002 S430 but it has high miles which most say isn’t a problem for the Mercedes which should go 300+ if pampered. I also like the 2002 Cadillac DTS. For my price range ($20k)they come at half the mileage as the S430’s do. Depreciation value, maintenance, quality, and style as factors which would you choose? OR I can go 2005 Pontiac Bonneville at 20k miles (practically new) for $18k. What do you think Yahoo!’s

A: It all depends on what you like. I am going through the same delima. I would say no to the S430 just cause the high mileage, even though it is a Benz things still go wrong with high mileage. If you want to ride real clean then get the Deville DTS. But if you want to get something brandnew or with less miles and you want to stay with the big car theme, get you a Mercury Marauder which you can get for about 23K or a Gran Marquis. Both of which still look real good.

Q: PLEASE HELP: low oil pressure STOP engine 2006 CADILLAC DTS?
Hi guys/gals,
I have a 2006 Cadillac DTS. I just got my car out of Cresmont Dealership & they ran a check on my car & replaced the battery and i think un-needed tire rods for $1200.00 CASH which was all my savings. I get my car back and its saying Low oil pressure, stop engine AS WELL AS its smelling like something was burning. They told me in order to find out what it is i have to pay for ANOTHER check as they say their is DIFFRENT computerized checks & this type of check was not paid for so i will have to pay again. I DONT HAVE THAT MONEY. I gave them everything & i feel like they are trying to get over on me. So now i need you guys help. What am i supposed to do and what could it be? I’m going to pick the car up from them tommorow and i am on my own. I’m hoping i can use a local shop to fix the problem. Someone/Everyone please help me out here. I dont know what to do and i am super low on funds… Thanks SO MUCH in advance!

A: check the oil level, you say you smelled burning. Could be something silly, like an oil filer leaking or a drain plug leaking. if it needs oil top it up. My car burns some oil between oil changes, so i must add some as the light comes on.

Q: I own a 2003 Cadillac DTS and the CHECK COOLANT LEVEL indicator is still on….?
I checked the coolant level in the reservoir and it was fine. I called a local auto shop and they said it sounds like a bad ECT sensor (engine coolant temperature sensor). The shop said they could replace the part for $185. The actual part costs $10.99. I did a little research on this and decided i could do it myself…. I installed a new ECT sensor and then replenished the reservoir with GM-Dexcool. I used the Chilton manual and the installation was a success- or so i thought. It has been 4 days since i have done this and the “CHECK COOLANT LEVEL” light still comes on. There are no leaks. Did i miss something? What else could the problem be? Please help! Thanks.

A: when the engine is COLD

check the level in the radiator – there may be a plug in your fill hose
of a hole in it – so it won’t siphon into the radiator

all the best

Q: Anybody who owns or has owned a Cadillac?
I would like your advise as to the value and quality of a used Cadillac and if these cars seem to be worth the money. #1 1996 Eldorado in Ex. condition with 130k miles black with black int. tint on the windows and a fresh air conditioning charge for $2800
or
#2 2000 Cadillac Deville DTS 115k miles fully loaded NAV / touchscreen stereo and new tires for $3800
Both are rust free Arizona cars.
I would just like to know if these cars are well built how much it is to maintain them, and things like that. would it be a good first car or a 2nd family car?

A: I have owned a 2001 DHS Deville since 2004 and I’ve put over 120K miles on it so far. It now has 193K miles on it and it still runs great, still looks great and still drives like a dream.

The Northstar V8 is GMs best engine and the car is powerful, smooth and elegent. But, it’s an oil burner, always has been. Youjust have to make sure the car never runs hot and never runs low on oil.

My BiL owns a 1995 Eldo. Same thing. It’s been an excellent car for him.

Any old high mileage car is going to need frequent maintenance. It’s a fact of life. There is no escaping it. The Caddy is no more expensive to repair than an Impala or a Taurus and it’s twice the car.

The price of these cars seems fair. But you must have them inspected by a certified mechanic before making any commitment to buy. If you want a family car, don’t buy the 2 door Eldorado. It’s a real PITA to get into that back seat.

Cadillac, America’s best luxury car. Always has been, always will be.

Q: Is Cadillac Deville DTS is a good car or not?
Well, we are looking forward to 2001 Cadillac Deville DTS. We like Lincoln town car but little more costly. We found this Cadillac for sale is that we can afford it. And it have 78,000 Miles on it.
I am wondering if this car is a good car.
Because I look at People reviews and rated this car in Kelly Blue Books.com and some people complain about any parts kept breaking down in after 50,000 miles and sooo expensive to repairs the part. Like window motor cost $1,000+ each.
Window motor, dash board, engine crack, using 3 qt of oil etc. . . broke down.

Please Comment and let me know if it’s not a good car.
Because I don’t want to spend too much money to repair.

People saying to me Lincoln Town Car is a REALY good car and Last lot longer. Also very Smooth riding.
One of my neighbor have Lincoln town car and it have 439,000 miles on it. It still runs great and oringinal powertrain.

So If it not a good car, We will look forward to Lincoln Town Car (1998 – 2003).

Thanks!!!!!!!

A: If this Caddy is equipped with the Northstar engine, beware — the Northstar, a powerful and almost silent V8 has an inherent cooling failure issue that STILL hasn’t been resolved even though GM has known about it for ten years. Problems with leaking coolant from the intake manifold causes major engine damage to the aluminum components and, get this, the engine cannot be rebuilt except by a certified GM specialist and he ain’t located in the dealerships. They don’t even sell a rebuild kit for the engine, you have to buy a REPLACEMENT engine when they break internally. I would be somewhat skeptical about buying an 8 year old DTS unless you knew for sure it has been maintained to a fault.

Q: How do you get a 2000 Cadillac DTS out of Anti-Theft mode?
This problem crept up recently, I have an auto starter for my 2000 DTS, and recently I cannot start the car by simply putting the key in the ignition. Everything works, but the engine does not start. I read that the auto starter interferes with the Anti-Theft mode and does not allow the car to start with a key. Well its annoying that I can’t just start my car with my normal key.

How do I disable the Anti-Theft mode so I can use my key normally?

A: turn the wheel a little to the right them turn the key, happens all the time

Q: cadillac decille DTS question?
what type of fuel does it uses like doe example unleaded, premium. 4.6 L L37 Northstar V8
cadillac deville DTS

A: Your question is very hard to understand.

is “decille” = Diesel?
Premium unleaded would be the answer assuming it runs on gasoline.

Certain Cadillacs have been made with a diesel motor, although not for a while in the States.

Q: Why did Cadillac change all their car names to 3 letters?
I had a Deville a few years ago and now they are all like DTS, BTS, CTS?? It used to be a lot easier to know the differences, but now its confusing. Am I the only one that thinks this? Thank you in advance for any answers.

A: The three letter names are abbreviations. DTS = De ville Touring Sedan STS = Seville Touring Sedan etc.

Q: How to turn on 2001 deville TPMS system?
I have a 2001 cadillac deville dts with tire pressure monitors, but in the driver information panel, it doesn’t scroll through the different wheel pressures. When I read a tsb it says you can enable or disable through a scan tool or a tech 2. I used a snap on tool which shows what the monitors are reading, but it isn’t turning the system back on in the dash readout. If i scroll through the setting using the dash buttons, the enable/disable is missing as shown in the owner’s manual. Any help?

A: The tech 2 can acess the programming in the IPC and enable the tire monitiring.

I had to do that when replacing faulty IPC unit.

I don’t know if snap-on, matco, mac or otc scanner have that ability with out being enhanced. basic scanners are limited in abilities.

Q: Which holds their value better, a Cadillac or an Infiniti?
6 months ago, I traded my awesome Cadillac STS, 1994 in towards another car, a 2003 Infiniti g35.
I miss my car still, the Infiniti is just too small it seems. So I went looking today, and I found a Cad DTS for sale at a dealership.
I can swap them and it will raise my payment by 18.00 a month.
I`m so tempted, but I keep thinking about why I traded my Cad in the first place, it seems when they get around 100,00+ on them, they start falling apart. I took great care of it, but it was costing me money left and right, it also had that great oil leak the Northstars are known for.
My step-dad talked me into the Infiniti, he used to sell them and thinks they are good for 200,00+ as the motors are excellent.
Since I`ve had it, minor little things are breaking. The power window is off track, the cd player doesn`t work, trim coming off, but the oil looks brand new. (the rest of the thing might fall apart around me, BUT THE MOTOR IS GREAT!)
I`m just wondering if I am better off keeping it and getting used to the size, or go ahead and get the Cad.

A: Regardless of which car you prefer to drive – an Infiniti will hold it’s value much better than a Cadillac will.
