Q: 2005+ Toyota Tacoma vs. Chevy Colorado: What is better to customize?
What truck has more of a variety of customizable parts (bumper kits, lowering kits, street stuff, etc.)?
2005 year or higher Toyota Tacoma or any Chevy Colorado?
A: Both of them have the same level of customizable choises but GM trucks tend to have more.
Q: Nissan Frontier 2004 4×4 vs.2004 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4? Anyone own A Frontier, How is it?
Thinking about buying a 2004 Toyota Tacoma? Anyone own a Nissan Frontier or have experience with them. I really like the Tacoma, but the Frontier is a lot less expensive. Any thoughts?
A: It all depends on what you want it for. I have a frontier and love it. What i do know is usually toyota packs in more horse power. For example my nissan is a 3.3 im pretty sure the toyota is going to be a 3.5 atleast.(now don’t quote me on this but thats how it was for older ones the nissans 4cyl had a 2.4 and toyotas had a 2.7.
Nissans are really reliable.
Q: 1970 toyota tacoma what does it mean when your truck rumbles when hitting gas?
I am asking this for my parents. Every time they give it some gas, the truck rumbles and shakes.
A: Just so you know,Tacomas came out in 1995…It sounds like you got carb problems….If it has alot of miles the timing chain may be stretched and may cause the same problem…It,s a cool truck!!!It,s worth fixing!!!!!
Q: Our Toyota Tacoma left a lime-green liquid on the ground, But the antifreeze is orange what could that be?
The liquid seemed to be dripping from around the axel/rear end area which is odd. Maybe the liquid is traveling along the drive shaft? I don’t have a clue. The last and only time I saw it was around the time which we had a snow storm and it was outside for a few days without use. I would appreciate if you could tell me any possible thing this could be, even if it seems weird. Just a reminder the antifreeze is orange. Thanks.
A: That would be Gear Oil, that is the oil in your rear end.
When cold the stuff is very dense and will drip slowly.
That can be an axle seal, a yoke seal, the differential cover gasket or sealant leak.
The vent on the rear end can be clogged with dirt which can make the seals on the rear end leak.
A rear axle seal can be leaking also.
You need to get that checked, you do not want that to run out of oil, if it is dripping on the ground when it gets hot it will drip more as you are driving, there is only 2 quarts or less in there. Don’t Wait.
Q: Why does my 2003 Toyota Tacoma take forever to kick into gear when going up hills?
It seems like some sort of timing that makes it so when I need to go faster the vehicle will automatically down shift. But what sucks is that it doesn’t always do it. So I have to turn off over drive and that just feels weird.
A: Why do you think they made it so that you CAN turn off the o/d???
Otherwise, it’d be like my 1991 Geo Prizm which has NO o/d button or switch. I’m stuck with being in 4th gear at odd times.
It’s harder for trannies to downshift from 4th to 3rd, than it is from 3rd to 2nd. My Geo Prizm never did it, until recently, as the tranny finally got opened up enough to do so. The ratio is closer in 3rd and 4th gear, so the difference isn’t noticed that much by the car. But diff between 2nd and 3rd is much more, so it’s easier for the car to downshift either automatically or by kicking the gas pedal a little.
So dont feel “weird” about having to turn of the o/d button to get into 3rd gear. Nearly every dang modern car has the o/d button, other than Hondas that have a dedicated 3rd gear on the PRNDL.
Just be thankful that you have the o/d button to shift into 3rd.
Q: What is the best year toyota tacoma. Ive heard issues with head gaskets?
looking at buying a t 1996 4×4 2.7 liter tacoma. has 128kmiles. i checked carfax it was clean. does this year have any issues with head gaskets or was it just the v6 tacomas. the frame has little to no rust also.
A: The Head Gasket was in V6 not in the 4cyl.
It was pre95 with the 3.0.
You should be good.
Q: What kind windshield wiper for Toyota Tacoma 2001 should I buy?
But not from dealer please? Dealer type worn out fast roughtly 6-8 month. Any special type that is doing the work better on snow, rain and sun.
Thanks for answer.
A: Simple fact is that windshield wipers should be replaced at least once a year anyway. And consider this – the auto shops get their wipers from the same supplier that TOYOTA does; auto shops are just less expensive.
For my cars and trucks I use ANCO or TRICO blades. Don’t bother with the fancy blade makers and just stay with the standard type blades.
Q: Is it safe to buy a Toyota Tacoma right now?
With all of the recall stuff going on, I’m starting to lose faith in toyota, but because I need a new truck (preferable compact), Toyota seems to be the only really good one, I dislike nissans, and the other ones have bad reviews. So, should i get the toyota?
A: no
i havent studied compact trucks lately, but the gmc canyon is a very reliable alternative.
i LOVE the toyota but they are about to change body styles and toyota is not going to spend much money trying to fix the current ones
it is just to scarry to buy a toyota right now
Q: Does the 2007 Toyota Tacoma have a chip in the key?
And if so, does that make it harder/more expensive to install a command start?
A: yes if the truck has engine immobilizer on it. then it has a chip in the key. if it don’t have immobilizer then no chip. you can tell by look at the base of the key up by the rubber part there will be a small dot on one side of the key. if no dot no chip in key. if it does have immobilizer the key need to programmed to the car.
Q: Can I fit 33 Inch tires on my stock 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner?
Hey,
Can I fit 33″ tires on my stock Tacoma? I know they will rub but how bad?
Thanks
A: They will definitely rub. You’ll need at least a 3″ lift to clear those tires.
Q: Can my 2001 toyota tacoma run a 600 watt amplifier for my speakers?
4 alpine type s speakers, 75w rms a piece, and then a alpine type s sub and thats 300 watts, and the amp does 4 x 75w rms + 1×300
A: We need more information on speakers if it is stock then most likely the amplifier will blow them, but if aftermarket it might but you need what wattage on them because you can blow them if too much power.
Q: 2008 Honda ridgeline or Toyota tacoma double cab 4×2?
I’m a weekend home depot, go camping, get a little dirty, go to a nice restaurant on the weekend type guy. The Tacoma is fun to ride and looks mean, however the Ridgeline is smooth, more space, but not as fun. Ridgeline has a little bit more power then the Tacoma, but the Tacoma looks more like a guys truck, then a white collar truck. Honda has more interior toys vs the Toyota.
A: I would go with the Toyota, the 4.0L is a great engine, uses a timing chain instead of a belt, decent gas mileage. Toyota still tops the quality surveys, just ahead of Honda.
Q: On a Toyota Tacoma, what is the difference between an access cab and a double cab?
This is between a 2004 and 2005, also how long are the bed lengths?
A: Double cab has four full doors and a large backseat like a car , but an Access Cab is just an ‘Extended Cab’ which does have 4 doors but they open only with the front doors open and have a very small backseat. I don’t know the exact length of the beds, but I believe the Double Cab has about a five foot bed and the Access Cab has around a six foot bed.
Q: 2007 Toyota Tacoma makes a loud bang when i start to drive after being stopped when it is in 4 wheel drive?
Do you think the transfer case could be stiff and just may need to be worked in and out of gear
A: its the transfer box, its been bent or rusted or screwed up in some way. fix it and youll be fine
Q: How do I lean out my 1996 Toyota Tacoma?
Basically I want to adjust the air/fuel ratio and make is so the pick-up doesnt run to rich. Is there a product I can get that will let me manually change it when I want to depending on conditions? Cause I dont want to change it once, and have to pay to change it again.
A: Not recommended.
If you lean out the fuel air mixture, you will cause some serious internal engine damage. You risk burning your valves. You also risk burning the pistons.
The engine will not be any more fuel efficient. It will also run poorly and have less power.
