Q: Toyota Mr2?
I have a 1992 mr2 toyota with 2.2 non turbo EFI engion. It quit runing. It has no fire at any plugs. We replaced the complete disturbutor and still no fire. With the disturbutor out of the engion, you can turn the disturbutor shaft by hand and it will fire, reinstall it and no fire and the disturbutor shaft is turning. It fires one time when you turn the key to off, every time. Can anyone help with this one?
A: It sounds like a wire got spliced. Check all the wires going from the ignition to the distributor. Maybe your ignition module went out.

Q: toyota MR2?
I was looking at a 1992 MR2 turbo yesturday. I dont know much about this car, but looks like its heck alot of fun to drive it.
My question is, how reliable are those cars, whats more reliable turbo or the spyder? Iam considering in getting one eather the older version cause i can afford it more or a newer one.
A: Probably more reliable than any other 16 year old turbocharged car considering that use and abuse could be a huge factor in its condition. they can be fun to drive but also unforgiving. Being mid-engined, with weight bias to rear, when they break loose they spin violently. you have to be really quick to catch them.

Q: How will I register a Lamborghini Body Kit with a Toyota MR2 donor car in the Philippines?
Will it be registered as Toyota MR2 (even the body is lamborghini) or will it be registered as a Lamborghini (even the entire car is Toyota)?
A: It registers according to the VIN, so it’s a Toyota. Just because it looks like a Lambo doesn’t make it one, right?
Q: What is the ECT button for in the 1987 automatic toyota MR2?
I rencently bought a 1987 Toyota MR2 with an automatic transmision, and close to the dashboard there is a button with ECT written on it, does someone knows what is the function of this button? Thank you!
A: My first car was a 1987 MR2 automatic. It stands for electronic controlled transmission. With it on the car will stay in the lower gears longer, allowing you to get more pull from the engine by changing when it shifts (keeps it in lower gears to a higher rpm.)
That being said, don’t let someone else test drive your MR2 with it on. If they floor it, it can easily get to 70 in second gear, at about 7500 rpms. Enjoy your car!
Q: What are the best simple upgrades for a toyota mr2?
Buying a toyota mr2 turbo. What are the best preliminary mods for the car?
A: Here is a copy from dsmtuners, which discusses modifying an eclipse turbo. However, the information is general and true for all cars, most people overlook this:
“The first thing you need to do is a complete tune up. Replace all worn belts, including the timing belt and balance shaft belt. If the timing belt/balance shaft belt haven’t been replaced within the last 60k miles, or you’re not sure when they were last changed – change them now. If they break, you’ll be paying for a rebuilt cylinder head (not cheap). You’ll also want to change out all filters, fluids, worn hoses, spark plugs/wires, worn/leaking gaskets, check the compression, do a leak-down test, check your ignition timing, etc. Basically, do all of the checks that your repair manual tells you to do – you do have a repair manual already, don’t you? If not, pick one up now before moving forward with any modifications.”
Then, the parts are similar for what you will want for initial modifications:

Q: I have a toyota MR2 with no side lights?
I have a 92 on a J, mr2 toyota, all the lights work apart from the side lights, front and rear, fog lights and dash light, is there another fuse box, apart form the ones under the bonnet and the boot?. If not what would you suggest to fix the fault?. Solution needed asap, please.
A: I’m going to ask the obvious question: Did you check the bulbs?
If the fuses are good, it could be a loose connection, if you’ve ruled out the bulbs. You can get an ohm tester and determine if the wiring from the bulb socket to the fuse block is intact. That’s a start.
I would inspect the bulb sockets too, to see if there’s any dirt or corrosion inside that’s preventing a good connection with the bulb..
Q: Would a 1991 toyota mr2 be considered a sports car?
I’m 16, I was looking into the 1991 Toyota Mr2 but I wanna know if it would be considered a regular car or a sports car?
thankyou thats all i needed to know.
A: It’s considered a Sports Car because it’s fast and handles well. It’s not built for hauling a lot of people.
It’s a 2 seater with a Mid/Rear engine setup.
Porche’s are also Mid/Rear setup.
I’ll leave it at that.

Q: What engine does the australian model of toyota mr2 mkII (1990-1999) have?
I get my p plates soon and i was interested in the toyota mr2 as a first car. What are the engines that were available at the australian market and what is their power output?..thanks.
A: I’m honestly not 100% sure for the Aussie market without looking.
I’m pretty sure they came with either a 3S-GE or 3S-GTE that came in the Celica GT-4.
In that case you’re looking at 160hp vs 240hp I believe.
Q: If I do a burnout in my rear wheel drive Toyota Mr2 Spyder will it mess up my engine?
I have a 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder Convertible and my friend told me how to do a burnout and I wanted to try it so I did it 2 times.
Will this mess up my engine? It is a manual rear wheel drive.
A: The burnout will put both the engine and transmission under heavy stress.
The engine may get damages since the gear if pushed to the limit. The brunout is normally done in first gear. The first gear (depending on car) should not get pushed to 40km/h or above. During the burnout the engine is pushing as hard as possible and the rotiotions per minute is too high for it.
You can blow your engine this way.
The transmission is suffering a lot since it has to suddenly accelerate the wheels to the max speed. The burnout requires you to suddenly release the clutch while flooring the gas. This means that all the momentum from the engine is applied on the gears. The stress can be too much for it and cause it to break/chip.
The tires. Duhhh. The tires are worn out and loose their relieve. You now have less grip on the street which might get dangerous when it rains. The tires can also explode during the burnout.
I have never heared of a car breaking after a few burnouts but if you do them for a long time or repeat them many times then there is a good chance that the car will be damaged.
not worth the fun…huge repair bills.
Q: How hard would it be to get an Toyota mr2 for under 4000?
Would it be possible to get an Toyota Mr2 NA or Turbo for under 4 grand? something around 100k on it.
I would be willing to do some fixing up on the car.
What are some other car possibilities? I want something a little older, early to mid 90s and maybe something I could fix up to call my own
I’m looking at the 2nd gen if anyone was confused.
A: probably not too hard.
