Q: Would a 60s ford mustang be a good daily driver?
Im looking to get a ford mustang. Its been my DREAM to own one. Im a college student, so Id be using it as a daily driver. Would a 60s mustang be a good daily driver? What are some things I should look for when buying a daily driver mustang? What upgrades/custom stuff should I do?

Any other info would be awesome!

A: I used a ‘66 for almost three years as a daily driver. Just keep the car well tuned, or install a modern distributor with electronic ignition, good wires and a high-energy coil. Make sure the tranny is in good shape. I had mine rebuilt and beefed up. Change all of the fluids and enjoy the car. Only down side that I had was the lack of a windshield defroster.

Q: How can I make my car (2006 ford mustang) a little faster?
I just bought a 2006 ford mustang v6 with pony package and I am wondering what are some upgrades I could do to gain a few more HP. I’m not talking about adding a supercharger! My budget right now is about $1,000 MAX. All I have done right now to it is add a throttle body spacer.

A: switch the rear gears to 3.73, that will make it feel much quicker off the line. The downside is it will raise the rpm’s, so going 65 on the highway you will be at around 2500 rpm’s or so. It lowers your fuel economy a bit.
Switching to dual exhaust like flowmasters will add a little bit of power, and will certainly make it look and sound better.
Finally, get a diablosport predator tuner and reflash your car’s computer. I did this on my V6 Mustang and it does feel quicker now. It didn’t hurt the fuel economy, either.

i just bought a 2000 ford mustang v6. i was going to buy a mustang gt but there wasn’t really any in my price range. i want to increase the horsepower on my v6 so i can start racing again. i have aa budget of 3000 for upgrades. whats some upgrades that i can get for my car to make it quicker?

A: Ok. Here we go. Second question that i’ve answered like this. Supercharger, or turbo, cold air intake, throttle body, throttle body spacers, exhaust headers, TRUE dual exhaust, brakes, suspension, rear seat delete, taller spoiler, lighter rims, racing spark plugs and wires, dynotune, better fuel delivery system, new pistons, new camshaft, manual transmission, underdrive pulleys, K&N air filter, Wider back wheels for better traction, swaybars, better ignition system, better oil delivery system, make sure you intercool a turbo or (i suggest saleen supercharger) supercharger, better fuel injectors, new valves (cylinder heads). A stage 3 racing clutch for a manual transmission, high flow cats or no cats (depends on if you want it street legal), new drive shaft, new differential gearing, A cobra R type front bumper for aerodynamics, racing seats to help you control the car better, i think there’s a kit to make it a 3.9L that’ll at some horses, better radiator, better hoses, supercharger coolant if you get a twin screw one, strut tower brace, better shocks, yeah you could use NOS, but i wouldn’t suggest it, you could chip the car. Man thats all i can think of right now, not all are for power, but with power you need handling, braking, lighter weight. That’s a list to start with. I found a car, its a 1997 ford mustang gt 5 speed manual. The odometer/trip need fixed, and i would like to know approximately how much they cost before i buy this car. Any help or a actual cost would be very helpful.
Since i don’t have much experience with cars, and I don’t want to mess up the speedometer on accident. How much would that cost if i went to a dealership, or an auto shop?

A: The easiest thing is to replace the instrument cluster with a working one from a junkyard. You should be able to get one for about $50.

If you send the cluster out for repair, you are looking at about $100 and it will take about a week.

Seeing as the odometer does not work, the car has to be titled as True Miles Unknown, which reduces the value.

A: I wouldn’t go anything over 130,000 to 150,000 miles. You don’t want it to just break down on you right away.Even then though, its still not something I would do. Mustangs are a little overrated.

In any case, I hope you enjoy your new ride & expect your insurance to be through the roof since its a sports car you mentioned is your first.

A: DO NOT BUY A HONDA!!!!!! I’m not saying they are bad cars or anything like that. What I am saying is that I just bought a Mustang, and I get complements about it wherever I go. People I don’t even know tell me how much they admire my car, and I met a lot of other nice Mustang owners. I would totally recommend the Mustang. It is a blast to drive, and all of my friends want to drive it, or at least ride in it. It is a great quality. I have had absolutely no problems with it, and I have so much fun driving it that I will go out for no reason just to get to drive my car. Buy the Mustang. It’s the most amazing and fun car I’ve ever had! Oh yeah I almost forgot. Since you have a choice of Mustang V6 (210 HP), Mustang GT(300 HP), Shelby GT (319-325HP), and Shelby Cobra GT500 (500 HP). You have a lot of engine choices. I have the 210 HP Mustang and I get 16 Miles per gallon city. Oh and one last thing. The horsepower of the Shelby GT is supposed to be 325 but I read in a magazine that when they ran tests on it that it was only 319, so that’s why I put it in a range. Wait, I promise this is the last thing. Just say you bought a Honda. A Civic doesn’t come in convertible, or coupe (with a fastback profile) like the Mustang does. Have I made my point?

im in high school, i have a 2002 ford mustang V6. i have a bit of money put aside, but not a lot, and i want my car to sound great without spending a lot of money. im not looking to really increase horsepower, just better sound. what should i do? also the price would be nice too!

A: i would say put a flowmaster on it with a ram intake system. it sounds really good on the v8 but im not so sure on the v6. good luck

Q: Ford Mustang convertible rental in the USA?
I am driving between Las Vegas and San Francisco as part of my honeymoon next year and would like to hire a Ford Mustang convertible to do the job. This would obviously mean picking up the car at one location and dropping it off at another. Can anyone recommend a car hire company which offers this service please? I don’t think the usual car rental companies (Avis, Hertz, Budget, etc) have Ford Mustang convertibles.

A: Hertz usually has the best deals for one-way rentals. Hertz can also arrange for a Mustang convertible, but you may have to request one in advance AND confirm your request the day before you expect to collect the car.

Q: anyone know the cost of a rebuilt motor and or transmission for a 2000 Ford Mustang?
I want to purchase one from my sister but i need to know what the cost and possable problems that anyone has had or might know about a 2000 Ford mustang i have a verry limited budget and would really appriciate any ansers on the price or sugesstions thank you

A: Parts and labor to rebuild the average engine is about 4800 dollars and parts and labor to rebuild the AODE transmission is about 1800 dollars! At least at my shop!

Hello, I’m looking into getting a Ford Mustang V6 coupe, but i wanted to know if it is a reliable car for an everyday driver. Any input would be helpful.
forgot to add that im looking at V6 models from 2000 up until now.

A: V6 Mustangs are awesome cars. Of course they require regular maintenance like any car, but I have a 2004 V6 coupe with well over 150k on it and I have no issues with it. They make great daily drivers but snow/ice are a concern because they are rear-wheel drive cars and there isn’t much weight in the back – so this is a consideration if you live in an area that gets snow in the winter. Here in the northeast we definitely get our fair share of snow and ice and I’ve found a good set of all-season tires and a few sand bags to weigh down the back of the car makes my Mustang driveable in almost any weather.

Q: Is the roof a weak spot on the Ford Mustang?
I’ve been looking to buy a used Ford Mustang. Two of the cars that I’ve looked at have roof damage in the exact same spot. They both look like they were severely dented in, then popped out. Is this just a funny coincidence or is this a weak spot on the car?

A: Coincidence. The Mustang’s roof isn’t any weaker or stronger than any other car.

Q: Does anyone know where I can find a ford mustang door?
My door was hit by another car and now I need a door for my Ford Mustang 2001. Its the driver side that was hit and I can’t seem to just find some loose parts anywhere. Any ideas?
