Q: Is there any other year that has the same differential gear ratio as a 1988 ford f-150 4×4?
I have a 1988 ford f-150 and i need a new spider gear for my differential. i was planning on going to a local junk yard to get it but they don’t have a 88. they have an 87 and 89 and was wondering if either of those trucks have the same gear ratio as my 88 ford.

A: They will probably make you take the whole diff and not part it out..it would have to be another 4×4..there were a lot of different ratios available, so check the code on the door or rear housing for the right ratio..

Q: How to turn off anti theft on ford 2002 f-150?
Hi, I have a white 2002 Ford F-150 and I don’t have my locker for the truck. So I stick my key in to lock it and unlock it. If I press the button on the inside to lock it, it will turn on the theft alarm which won’t go off unless I have the locker to unlock the theft alarm. I tried putting my key in, it unlocks but the alarm is still Going off. Is there a reset button or anything?? Help??

A: You cant turn off the PATS system. Which is the aniti thieft device. But If I remember correctly if you have the keypad on the out side you can reprogram. But I have not messed with one in years. So it might not allow you to do it,.

A: Ford doesn’t either. That’s why their oil pressure gauges have L ——- H. Anywhere along that line, according to them is “Normal”. I personally like to see it somewhere close to mid scale.

I have a 1997 Ford F-150 and the catalytic converter is failing and i was wondering if i could take it off, and if that would make the car break down also dose the catalytic converter have any thing to do with the exhauste and if it dose if i fix the catalytic will that fix the exhauste leak that i have. A: The catalytic converter is part of the exhaust system. If your vehicle is subject to emission control testing, it won’t pass without it. If your exhaust leak is from the converter, then yes, replacing it will fix the leak. If the exhaust leak is anywhere else, obviously replacing the converter won’t fix the leak.

A: Yes, several companies make grille guards that will fit this vehicle, Personally I like the Westin grille guards or the Mannik grille guards.
Ask your local parts stores if they handle these brands and they will be able to show you pictures and pricing.

Q: I own a 1973 Ford F-150 Pickup. Where can I find a diagram of the radius arm bushings for free online?
I need to replace the bushings, but the original ones are non-existent. I want to make sure I install the new ones correctly.

A: To be honest, you aren’t going to find much since this is an older truck…even though they are somewhat collector’s items. Since it is an older truck and it is something you want to keep, I’d invest in buying the Haynes or Chiltons manual for the 1973 Ford F100. You can find them anywhere online. Getting a diagram of how the bushings are to be installed is something very specific. I’d invest in the full manual. It will tell you absolutely everything you need to know. And I’m sure this won’t be the only repair you do on this vehicle.

Q: Would another stock radio be compatable in a 2000 ford f 150?

A: you can only use radios from 1998 to 2002 also you can use a radio from a 2003 and a 2004 with a special wiring harness we make those all the time ,

THE only 2003 and 2004 that will fit your vehicle are the ones with the 2 little holes on each side of the radio face

Is the 4.6 litre engine in a 2000 f-150 the same 4.6 as the mustang. Do they have the same block pistons cam heads intake exhaust manifold. What are the differences if any. Is power the same. There are many aftermarket performance parts for the mustang and am wondering if I can use them

A: Same block yes. the difference is in the computer programing. transmission and rear end. but there is alot you can do to increase power to the truck. the parts for the mustang probly wont work.

Q: How do you take off the inside rear view mirror from a Ford F-150 2005?
My mirror broke, so I went out and got a new one from Ford. They told me it was easy to take off, but I cant get the damn thing off. How do you take it off?

A: Simple. There is an allen screw that needs to be loosened. Once the screw is loose, you can pull up on the arm that is attached to the windshield and it should come off. Easy to do.

Q: I have a 1987 Ford F-150 pickup that stalls when driving and it won’t start again for a while. Any help?
My 1987 Ford f-150 pickup keeps stalling,just like it’s hot,but it’s not and there’s plenty of gas. It takes a while to get going again and when it does, it will only go a couple miles and quit again. This time it won’t start again. I’ve replaced the battery, and don’t know whats wrong. Help me.

A: Sounds like a bad ignition coil, or possibly the ignition module-both have a habit of doing this-if the plastic where your wires go into the ignition box is any color but brown I’d change it but the brown one is higher $$$s. My T-Bird’s is the one that has yellow plastic where the wires go into it and it is about $16 and I keep a spare onboard because they have this habit.

i just bought it and i can not find the transmission dipstick on my 1988 ford f-150 automatic with a 302 V8.

A: should be back against firewall on passenger side of vehicle under the hood. If you cannot find maybe someone left dipstick out. Look with flash light and look for a tube going down to tranny. It’s got to be there.

Q: Have a 2006 ford f-150 and the four wheel drive knob wont work. What could be the problem ?
The light wont come on when I flip the switch. Nothing will engage. I have tried sitting still and rolling for 4h and sitting still for 4l.

A: Several possibilities.
First check fuse #27 in the under hood fuse block. It supplies power to the front hub control solenoid.
Next step is to have it scanned by a shop or parts store. If the problem is with the switch or shift motor it will usually set a code in the PCM that can point you in the right direction.
If there are no codes other possibilities are.
The Independent wheel ends.
Independent wheel end solenoid.
Vacuum supply to the IWE solenoid.
Vacuum check valve.
If you don’t understand what i’m talking about I suggest finding a good mechanic.
