Q: How does the Audi A5 fare for maintenance?
If you are not familiar with the A5, how does Audi compare with other other manufacturers in terms of car reliability?

A: I own the A4 (not A5), but in general they are very similar in terms of technology and quality.

The quality is OK (not great). There’s some complaint with electronics. The car is high maintenance car. Everything is very unique to Audi, making them almost impossible for independent shops working on them.

Also because of the complexity, the labor charges are usually very high. Also the parts are more expensive.

Ex: My timing belt (and water pump) cost $1300. My honda civic’s timing belt cost just $350.

Ex2: The cat converter cost $800 (parts only).

I would NOT buy another Audi again.

Q: Audi a5 what can i do to make it faster?
I have a 2008 Audi a5 and im looking to put some performance parts in it..
what can i put in to increase the HP and acceleration

A: Buy a tuning computer that hooks up to your ECU to change peak efficiency in Fuel/Air ratios.

Also I would experiment with test pipes.

New free flow intake manifolds.

Bigger injectors.

Better fuel pump.

If you have the 2.0t engine than you could buy a boost controller and if you did that I would recommend bigger injectors and a better cooling system. All bolt ons require tons more other bolt ons. Its a never ending cycle.

Q: Do radios fitted in the Audi A5 have longwave radio or not?
I bought an Audi TT and the radio in it did not have longwave radio. This was a huge disappointment as I like to listen to the cricket on LW radio. I am now looking at buying a UK Audi A5 and want to know if the radios fitted in an A5 have longwave radio or not.

Q: Does the Audi A5 automatically come with a Nav?
I’ve been saving up money and I was thinking of getting an Audi A5. So I was building it on the site and none of the options allow inserting a nav. Does it come standard? Thanks in advanced.

No I dont want to hear if the A5 is good or not, I just want to know if it comes with a navigation system standard of if thats separate and if it is, why isn’t that option available online and how much does it cost?
PS. I’m talking about the coupe.

A: i believe the nav comes standard with the s5, and is an option for the a5. I think it cost about $300-$500

Q: How can I use an iPod in my Audi A5?
I have phoned Audi garages near me and my car is 8 weeks too old to be able to fit the Audi Music Interface but I would like to use my iPod in the car without having to use an FM Transmitter as the quality of sound is not as good. Are there any ways I could do this?

Q: Would you get a 2011 Camaro SS or a 2011 Audi A5 Coupe?
I know these cars dont fall into the same category but which would you get . I have personally test drived the Audi A5 and it rides pretty sweet . I haven’t yet test drived the camaro but im debating on which car to get.

A: Neither.
I would get a 2011 Mustang GT or a 2011 Infiniti G37 Coupe.

Audi reliability is crap and they are a fortune to service.

Q: Audi A5….The Base Price on the Audi Website is Far From the Advertised Prices From the Dealerships?
There are several Audi dealers in my surrounding area, but they are either small dealerships, or large dealerships in expensive areas (DC,MD,VA). The base price for the Audi A5 (black ext) Automatic online was 37k, all of the dealers advertise for 41+. I am assuming this is because the carry the premium package cars. Is is possible that I get one for the same price on the website???

A: Lots of luxury dealers don’t keep base models on the lot, though most are happy to order one in for you, or have one transferred from another dealer. Talk to someone in their sales department and tell them exactly what you are looking for, they are normally happy to help if it means selling a car. If not, find another dealer.

Q: What are the maintenance cost for owning an Audi A5?
I am looking to purchase one but I have heard there are a lot of hidden cost and just regular maintenance can be pretty high. Also, I have heard Audi’s do not have a resell value and suffer from mechanical problems.

Any ideas? Any information would be appreciated.

A: first of all you do not have to remove the bumper on any Audi model that i know of to replace a light bulb. Audis do have a indicator that tells you when i light bulb has blown but when i replace the bulb the warning light on the dash goes out.

your main cost of ownership will be scheduled maintenance and its not cheap. Timing belt and water pump are due at about 65K miles and if you have it done at a dealer it will be about 1200 but can be done much cheaper by an indy mech. oil changes run about $100 at the dealer but again can be done much cheaper. all german cars seem to have electrical gremlins not major but premature lights blowing etc IDK whether the A5 will have this but i would plan on buying new bulbs for the dash at least once at about 100K miles and new headlights (non Xenon) every 20K miles or so and new XENON lights every 60K or so. mechanical problems are rare in my experience. wear parts will have to be replaced but that is true on any car (including toytas and hondas) if you keep the car past 100K miles you will have to consider the cost of struts bearings etc. i have 150K on my A6 and had to do the struts about 10K miles ago (still all original bearings etc tho) i also did the CV joints at about 110K miles neither was outrageously expensive. If you only keep the car until its time for the large 70Kmile maintenance then you should only see oil changes if you do the water pump and timing belt you can shoot for 120K before you sell without major repair. I personally keep them till about 180K and have never had major problems.

as for resale value i don’t think its low they seem to hold their value pretty well the Audi S4 is one of the top 10 cars for highest residual value. the Audi A4 is also right on par with the Mercedes C-class and BMW 3 series for residual value and the A5 is slightly lower. so no i would not say that the resale value is low. you can check residual values on the link below.

Q: Does the back window on an Audi A5 roll down?

A: no. the sunroof doesn’t slide either. the only working windows are the front windows and sunroof tilt. a shame considering that all four windows and the sunroof in the new mercedes e coupe are fully functioning.

Q: Is it going to be harder to drive an Audi A5 manual than the Civic I learned on a couple of months ago?
I’ve heard civics are very easy stick cars but i dont know why. Ive only tried a civic and a chevy suv. Is there a big difference b/c the audi is a 6 speed?

A: Absolutely not. Once you have the hang of a manual transmission, you can drive them all. The principles are the same from motorcycles to heavy-duty pickups. You’ll only run into trouble when you get to really heavy-duty trucks that have high and low range gears. Even those are easy enough to learn with one trip around the block. Don’t sell yourself short. Within 30 minutes of driving any stick-shift, you’ll be shifting like a professional. Once you get to know the car you are driving, you’ll see why many people prefer a stick-shift, especially with an Audi A5 6-speed. Lucky you! Just remember, speeding tickets are expensive these days.

Used – most of them will be at Audi dealers and very few elsewhere.

Q: Does an Audi A5 have push to start ignition?
i was wondering if th Audi A5 had Push to start.
im looking for a car, and so far its an Altima Coupe, which has push to start, and a main reason i fell in love with the car.
however, im not crazy about the body of the altima coupe, and have fallin in love with the Audi A5, for obvios reasons lol

A: I don’t think that you should decide which car to get all on the push start. Audi is definitely the best decision out of the two. If it doesn’t come with push start, which I don’t think Audi makes any cars with push start, I don’t see why you wouldn’t get the car.

Q: How much does the Audi a5 maintenance cost per year? Is it affordable?
This question is for audi owners only

A: Every service interval is different. The big ones are extremely expensive, usually around 6-700 (labor is about 3 hours). The smaller ones can run you about 150. You can check your maintenance manual in the owners manual packet that you got with the car for an in depth checklist on exactly what they are replacing. If you havent bought the car yet, then certainly look into purchasing the maintenance plan that Audi sells. Also talk to the service manager at the dealer you plan on servicing your car at (as every dealerships cost is different). I believe you can purchase it after the fact too. Call your nearest Audi dealer for details.

Q: What is the safer, more reliable car? A Mercedes C350 or an Audi A4/A5?
I’m in the market for a new car. I want something that’s stylish but my main concerns are safety and reliability. I will either get a Mercedes C350, Audi A4 or A5. I’m not sure if I want the A4 or the A5, but if I get a Mercedes it will be a C350.

Also, which one do you think is the better car? Why?

A: From a safety sand point I would go with the Benz. After a drunk driver crash tested my wife’s Mercedes in the rear end at over 40 miles in a full size Oldsmobile with her car stopped at a light, I was totally impressed. The back bumper was under the rear window and crushed into both rear tires. Her car was driven into the vehicle in front of her and front end pretty much destroyed. Here’s what impressed me: all four doors would open and close just like the day the car was new. All four power windows were fully functional as was the sun roof. The entire passenger compartment was totally intact. That tells me that Mercedes builds one very tough body. And the drivers seat back did not collapse and she was absolutely unhurt.

Q: which would be a better car 2009 Chevy Camero 2ss or 2009 Audi A5?
so i have saved enough to get new car and pay the monthly bill, and i have narrowed it down to two choices a 2009 Camero ss or Audi A5 3.2l both have alot to offer just which one will be a more fun ride( speed, handling, acceleration, and looks). its just so hard to choose only one but i cant afford to 40k cars.

A: Well, you are guaranteed to choose a great car to get. Surprisingly this question is quite common and to be honest, the Camaro would be the best choice for obvious reasons, I mean a 4.5 sec 0-60 time compared to a 6 sec one. Well I will let you choose, here are the Pros/Cons for the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro and 2009 Audi A5:
