Q: What type of gear oil should I use for my 2003 Toyota Tacoma?
This is to be used in the manual transmission. Also what should I use for the transfer case and the differential? FYI: I have the 2.7 Liter Engine.

A: im going to say 80-90 gear lube but contact your local parts store to make sure

Q: Trading my used 2004 Honda Accord to new 2009 Toyota Tacoma?
How much money would I lose? What are the process of doing so?

I bought my Honda for $20,000 and bought it used.

My Honda has 62K Miles.
2004 Honda Accord V6 Coupe 6 speed manual

to

2009 Toyota Tacoma 4cyl 4×4 Access Cab

A: KBB on the honda runs for just under 10k in good condition, so you’d lose about 10k on the trade in, or whatever is left on your loan will roll oer on the truck.

Personally, i think you;re better off with the honda- its more fuel efficent, safe, and stylish.

the Tundra costs more, and will lose value quickly because of rising gas prices. Gas prices are low now, but will return to the days of 4 dollar a gallon, and possibly more making your gas bill expensive later on, and lowering resale value.

plus, a 10k loss is way too much in this economy.

good luck!

Q: where is a good place to buy a used truck in Casper, Wyoming?
I’m looking for a used toyota tacoma or a ford ranger. It has to be used and have 4 wd and automatic.

A: Edmunds.com

Q: Toyota Tacoma? Can a baby seat be used legally and safely in these trucks?

A: Yep sure can!

They have a shutoff for the Passenger Airbag so it doesn’t go off with a child in the seat.

Q: Which Toyota Tacoma model should to buy?
My dad is currently looking for a used Tacoma truck. I don’t know much myself but he ask me to help look for one. The thing is there are so many versions for it like S-runner, base, double cab, etc. I just want to know which version should have at least these specs.

Auto
V6
At least 4 people could fit in
Should be able to changed to 4 wheel drive because we drive in snow when winter comes
It should not be the newer ones. Maybe 2001 to 05 models.

A: Most Tacoma’s in this link will have what you are looking for http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?_adv_prop=image&fr=ush-news&va=2010+toyota+tacoma&sz=all

This link has more info on the Tacoma http://www.toyotaframerust.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=1

Watch a Tacoma in action here when the frame rusts in half http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INujD8kuc5s

Your dad may want to reconsider. Chevy and Ford and Chrysler lack the above mentioned problems………..

Q: Where is the best place to buy new and used car parts(need a new front bumper for my 2000 Toyota Tacoma)?
What should I expect to pay?

A: You will want a CAPA Certified part to give you the assurance that you are buying a quality part. Original Fit Corporation has the best quality and best prices:

http://www.originalfit.com/toyota-tacoma-199820.html

List Price is $553.70
Discounted Wholesale Internet Price is $145.35

Q: Whats the best way to buy a new/used vehicle using my paid for toyota tacoma 02 as trade in?
I Bought a 2002 toyota tacoma alittle over a year ago, for 13,000.00 cash. Blue book then was 12,000. Now I’d like to get something alittle newer with more seating. Thinking Ford Explorer or something like it. I’ve been told I should several diffrent ways to go about it – sell, trade it, take out a loan ect. Help! Best Answer your reward! Also is Ford Explorer a good vehicle? Does Toyota make a good SUV ? If so would it be better to go to Toyota dealership and trade it in? I should also mention I’d like to get a deal where I walk away with some cash or a least no payments. Not asking for much right? thanks

A: OK, you have a lot of questions. Let’s start with the first issue.

#1 – Don’t trade in your vehicle. Sell it to a private party. You will get more money for it that way (could be $1,000s more.)
#2 – I would take a Toyota over an Explorer, but that is just me.

I would recommend buying a used car vs. a new car. With a new car, you will leave a lot of money at the curb, when you drive off the lot. If you go against my suggestion, be sure and ask your insurance agent about “gap insurance” to cover the difference between your loan payoff amount and the ACV of your car, if it should happen to get totalled. This won’t matter, if you do in fact walk out with no payments.

A dealer won’t part with money, so again, sell the car yourself, and pay cash for the new one.

The site below has some great savings tips for purchasing your first (or next) vehicle. You seem to be already following the advice, but it is good reading.

Good luck to you, and happy shopping! Drive safely.

Q: Has anyone used an infant car seat in a 2007 Toyota Tacoma Access cab truck?
My husband has a 2007 Toyota Tacoma access cab. We have a newborn baby and plan on putting his rear-facing car seat in the back seat. The owner’s manual gives instructions on installing an infant car seat into the truck. Is the Toyota Tacoma child restraint system safe? I figured it had to be safe if they provide this as a safety feature on the truck. I just want to make sure that the truck meets the same safety requirements as my 4-door car. The car seat is mainly put in my car, but we need to use my husband’s truck this week. Please let me know if you have used a car seat in this truck.
The infant car seat we are using is the Graco Safe Seat.

A: The restraint system is just as safe as any other, the problem is that pickup trucks are never the ideal way to transport children. Trucks have less crumple zone area. And even though we’re always told kids should be in the back, in pickup trucks that actually isn’t always true – b/c the back windshield is SOOOO close to the back seat, when the car seat rebounds up its undoubtedly going to hit it, providing another point of impact that the baby will hit and be injured by. Notice that when you install your carrier in your car, even if its a good installation (with less than 1″ of movement at the belt path) that you can lift the front of the base, closest to the front of the car, right off the seat. Its supposed to -in an accident the seat will fling up. So in most vehicles, children are most protected in the back seat, in a truck, not so much. But they’re not well protected in the front seat either – too close to the front end, and then there’s the airbag problem. Although, in an ‘07 the airbag will either have a sensor or be able to be shutoff. You have to watch those sensors, though, check the weight limit. B/c remember its not just the weight of your child in the seat, but the weight of your child + the weight of his seat.

Anyways – I would not put my child in an infant carrier in the back seat of a pickup truck. I would get a rear facing convertible that can be tethered rear facing. You know how all current convertible seats have an extra strap coming out of the back that you hook in you car’s back dash? There are 2 brands of seats that can use the strap but in rear facing position – only Britax and Sunshine Kids allow this. And a Sunshine Kids Radian65 is not going to fit rear facing in a truck, so a Britax convertible would be your best bet. That way it provides some more protection against the child hitting the rear windshield in an accident. I just wouldn’t be comfortable with my child riding in it otherwise.

If there is absolutely no other option – consider installing the infant car seat in the front seat, making absolutely certain that the airbag is shut off. There’s evidence of why this is safer in the forums at http://www.car-seat.org , usually I’d search for it and put the link here, but apparently the forums are down right now. I posted an answer about putting a car seat in a Toyota Tacoma that had a link to a thread discussing putting a car seat in the front of a truck. Or you can post your question there when its up and running and get informative answers from car seat techs.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArgC7ZGmukfMbcNWBe0YZyHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080530142331AAcfgdV&show=7#profile-info-ZqN6pUsUaa

That’s the question, and when researching I learned that the Toyota Tacoma is a very difficult vehicle to install car seats in, rear or forward facing. consider trading vehicles with your husband on days he needs to pick up your child. We have the same problem in our house, my mom has a CRV to transport my son and sister, but my stepdad has a Nissan pickup. So he almost never gets to transport either child. Its just not safe enough.

Q: What size bolts are used for the tailgate on a 98 Tacoma?
What size metric bolts are used to attach a tailgate to the bed in a 1998 toyota Tacoma tailgate
I went to the dealer and they do not sell these bolts.
Thanks

A: See if the dealer will give you the size. You will need the dimensions.

You will need the diameter of the bolt, measuring the shank, not the head. The measure the length of the bolt from under the head, the entire shank length, the threaded & unthreaded portions combined.
If you are using a hex head bolt, look for grade 10.9. Metric hex bolts are available in 8.8 strength & 10.9 strength.
I would also suggest a nylon insert lock nut or an all metallic lock nut to go with the bolt.
You should be able to find this bolt at your local hardware store or big box, like Home Depot or Lowe’s or check under fasteners in your local yellow pages.
Good Luck & re-post if you don’t find something that will work.

Q: 95 Toyota Tacoma Door Jamb Sticker?
My dad just bought a used 95 Toyota Tacoma. When we took it home we noticed the Door Jamb Sticker on the Driver Side of the door was gone(maybe scraped off or was never there)? Can anyone verify that this has to be here? The Vin number matches on the dash. I can’t seem to find a Vin on the firewall when I pop the hood. I live in California. I read somewhere online, in some states vehicle were not required to have this sticker. I checked carfax and everything looks good. But the car was orginally from Montana. Does that mean if Montana didn’t require it and California requires it, the car is not legal here? I am confused. Is the Door Jamb sticker required in California? All of my other cars has it. Any help or hints would be fine.
Thanks in Advance.

A: Here is the real answer. The VIN sticker on the outer body panels tells you those parts were installed at the factory. Each one has a reference number (VIN) that tells you these parts go to this vehicle. You should see one on all the doors, the hood and trunk lid.

If you don’t see them, that means only one thing. Those panels have been replaced and the only reason an outer body panel would need to be replaced is if the vehicle was in an accident.

Q: When to use Positraction in my Toyota Tacoma?
I just bought a truck and found out it has positraction. None of the other cars I’ve owned have had it, so I’m not sure what it’s all about. What is the purpose of positraction? and in what situations would it be useful to use it?

A: Posi traction is an old technology in the rod hot days. You have limited slip differential or locking rear differential. Limited slip mean both rear tires will turn at the same time but one can turn faster. Locking means they will turn at the same time, used mainly for off road use and on a straight line. You will find this on Tacoma TRD Sport (limited slip) and TRD Off road (locking) Hope this will help you out.

Q: Looking for new/used bucket seats for ‘02 Toyota Tacoma 4×4. Anyone have a clue where to turn?
Tried jcwhitney.com and they don’t have them. Ebay… un uh. The color needed is gold/tan.

A: You bet! copart.com or car-parts.com

Q: Jeep Wrangler or Toyota Tacoma?
So for my first car, I REALLY want a USED black 2005 Jeep Wrangler (hard top) or a USED black Toyota Tacoma (double cab, short bed), but I can’t decide which one is more durable and useful. I am paying for either one myself, so money is out of the picture, both of them cost about the same anyways since they are used. I’m 16, so I don’t really need the truck for work tools or anything, and the Wrangler is definitely my first choice, but I LOVE trucks- and it’s not like this is a massive f250. I think it’s appropriate. I’m not the girliest of girls, so before you assume my positions on wanting these cars, understand I’m not a typical teen age girl that would kill for a white BMW.
I want to know which you think is more safe, environmentally friendly (gas), and more reasonable.
Plus, I hear Jeeps are loud and obnoxious from the inside..?
Opinions?
Thanks in advance.

A: first you need to compare apples with apples, both trucks have advantages over each other, both are quite capable, and if properly equipped and maintained the jeep will last just as long as the toyota.with similer costs
some simple truths:
stay away from late model wranglers with the 4 cyl engine [this is the head gasket blowing dodge neon engine, and has no guts off road] 4.0L. in-line 6 cyl. is the engine of choice here. [note the late model 3.8 minivan engine has no business in these vehicles].

the toyota is inherently a safer vehicle due to the fact that it is a completely enclosed structure,
the jeep has a roll cage of sorts and the fiberglass hard top is very sturdy but under most accident conditions the tacoma would be a safer bet, there is a 4cyl and a v-type 6 cyl available both are solid performers and given proper care will run for almost ever.
. jeeps w/4.0 and proper care will go easy 300K miles.
with the hard top jeeps are fairly quiet on road and they have considerably more off road potential than any pick-up large or small, rear seat comfort however, over moderate distances [or greater] will be zero…

Q: 2004 Toyota Tacoma, How much should I pay?
I’m looking at buying a used 2004 toyota tacoma. It is a V6 5 speed manual TRD Off Road, including Bilstein shocks, Hidden Hitch, Box liner, cruise, A/C, tilt steering, power locks/windows, keyless entry, electronic differential lock, power lumbar support. I haven’t seen it yet, but assuming it is in good condition, what is the maximum I should pay for it. Also, should I still get a good five years out of this truck without many problems?
It has 96,000 km (60,000 miles).

A: Check the used car values below to get an approximation of what it’s worth. They tend to be right.

Q: what year does the Toyota Tacoma off road package start using the hood scoop?
and is there any big difference between 05′ – 08′ models?

A: 2005 was the first Model using the Scoop on the 4×4’s.

No there aren’t any major differences. Just the standard packages.

Once you find a model you like it will be the same across all 3 years.

Q: What is considered good mileage on a used Ford Mustang?
I’m buying my first car and my parents have agreed on paying the insurance
I was looking on Auto Trader at used Mustangs and of course the cheapest ones have over 100,000 miles. What is considered good mileage on these cars? What range should I not buy from?

A: Mileage depends on year and engine. If you’re talking about a v6 or v8 it makes a notable difference in what MPG you’ll get. A v6 may get about 25 mpg on average(city and highway combined) while a v8 will get no more than 20 and usually less than that. If you get a v6 Mustang DO NOT get an automatic. It will be no fun to drive and it will be worth nothing when you go to sell it. If you get a Mustang GT which will always have a v8 in it then a manual or auto is fine.
If you find a stock Mustang that has little to no mods(modifications) done to it then that’s your best bet for getting a reliable car. Someone that’s wrenched on a Mustang and has made lots of mods tends to run their car hard. Also, you never really know how good a job they did on any mods. The only mods I wouldn’t have a problem worrying about are wheels or an exhaust kit or a high flow air filter or cold air intake kit. Anything else that’s mechanically modified can be a problem for you if something goes wrong.
If your price limit is for a car that has 100k miles on it then find one that is not far from 100k miles. I wouldn’t buy one that has over 110k on it unless it’s obvious it was garage kept and was serviced regularly with documentation. Anything less than 100k should be pretty reliable for a good while. Just make sure the body is in good shape and that the trim and paint isn’t weather beaten from sitting outside all it’s life. With any car new or used you never know what will go wrong. With a car that’s been around a while you can expect some things to come up. If you make sure you have a tune up done to it and get your fluids and filters changed(engine, transmission[automatic only], coolant) it will lengthen the reliability of your car.

Q: How much is a used Ford Mustang GT 2006 going to cost? Just an estimate if I buy it from an individual?
I’m looking for a good deal and make on a mustang that will see me through college and school and I was just wondering how much the average cost of something like that would be. I want it to be in good working condidtion but it doesn’t have to be some mind blowing sports car. Thanks and God Bless.

A: $5000.00 or less. that gt is gonna get you at the gas pump, but is cheap to fix. nice cars, i had several. have fun doin burn-outs as the exhaust roars like a lion.

Q: Where could I find a used ford mustang GT for under 7,000 bucks?
I don’t really want a new one. I’m looking for something around 87-93 in that year. Maybe if it has somewhat high mileage (120,000+) and it was probably a 99-02 I would be interested. But where can I buy a used one for under 7 grand? I don’t want to buy one ebay. I’m talking about locally. Is there any websites besides autotrader?

A: try cars.com, I did a search for 150 miles of my zip and there are 11 mustang gt’s for close to $7k.
http://www.cars.com/go/buyIndex.jsp
just put in your zip and price range

Q: How much would a used ford mustang cost?
I know it’s basically how many miles it has on it,but what would it start at,and the highest it would get.The one I saw is a 2005 model.

A: I’ve seen 2005 Mustang GT’s (V8) for as low as $15000 with around 50,000 miles on them. Low mileage models typically go for around $18000 to $20000. A V6 model with comparable options and mileage will run about $5000 less than a V8 on average.

Q: Buying a used Ford Mustang: good or bad idea?
I want a Mustang. A new one would be too expensive. Are they typically good and reliable cars, even used ones?

A: Just like every other machine. If you take care of it they last. If you don’t then it wont. Get it checked out and go from there. Generally they were good cars unless someone beat the crap out of it.

Q: Used Ford Mustang GT Cobra or used BMW M3?
Used M3s handle better and are more refined but used Mustang Cobras have more muscle.

Which one has more curb appeal? And which one is a btter overall performer?

A: BMW M3 is definitely the better for curb appeal….EVERYONE has a mustang and most cannot tell the difference between a GT, stock, cobra, shelby…etc. The BMW m3 has distinct characteristics over other BMWs, namely the sporty overtones, such as side mirrors, exhaust, hood, etc. You want to impress the ladies? M3.

The cobra will have more muscle, sure, however the BMW M3s can corner and handle like you have never seen. IDK if we are talking e36 m3s or e46….but the e46 will hit 0-60 in less than 5 seconds….which is faster than most cars on the road anyways.

I would def go with the M3…I have an e46 and I get looks ALL the time and people will notice it WAY more than a mustang. Everyone and their mother has a mustang….

THE ONLY DRAWBACK to an M3 is the service and maintenance. You really need to be prepared to pay a lot for keeping it tuned up and if anything goes wrong…..BMW parts are NO joke.

I really hope this helps and in all honesty, both cars are badass.

Q: Used Ford Mustang GT500 Cobra 2007, Thinking of buying, what should the Price be?
I tried to use Blue book and it said they could not get a price on one of them. Ford dealer wants $40,299. That still very close to the price for a new one is. It was like new really, but its way over price me and my dad and even the sales thought. What do you think the price should be?
10,000 on it

A: I would deffinately not pay more then $36,000. I can find a bunch from private sellers that have half the milage and they are asking between $35,000 and $38,000. If I were you, I would take a look at private sellers. Since you will be buying a car that has so few miles on it and you buy from an adult you know the car wont be abused and the factory warranty will still be present. Not only will you find a car for a lot less but on top of that you will save thousands because you wont have to pay sales tax. You are probally looking at saving at least $5,000 by going with a private seller.

Q: What is a reasonable for a Used 2006 Ford Mustang Convertible?
I found one for 15k, and I was wondering if that’s a good deal or not
i guess i forgot to add price after reasonable in the title

A: Condition Value

Excellent $14,515
Good $13,665
Fair $12,515

Q: i dont know if i want to get a 1999 ford mustang used for 4000 because of winter situations?
do you think i should buy that or just get a decent car that is good for winter and will last a long time?

A: hey the price isn’t that bad i paid 6 grand for mine…the only problem might be sliding on the ice when u take off because of the rear wheel drive. i would say if you live in an icy area then u might want to hold off for a bit…but if u think the ice wouldnt be a problem then go for it.

Q: About how much would a USED Ford Mustang GT cost?
just wondering. it’s my dream car and i want to know if i could afford it!!!

A: depends on alot of factors, mileage, condition, features, etc could be anywhere from 5,000 to 30,000 just depends

Q: search sites to buy used ford mustang in europe?
THE CARS MUST BE IN EUROPE SO I CAN IMPORT THEM IN GREECE, LOOK UP FOR MODELS 1968 TO1974.

A: http://www.autotrader.nl
co.uk
fr

etc

Q: What would the be the insurance cost for a used 2006 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500?
also if u can give me a website that can estimate the insurance cost for any car that would be much appreciated

A: The GT500 didn’t come out untill the 07 model year. If your buying this car used it probably a regular GT Mustang that has been made to look like a GT500.

Q: Where can i find a used cheap ford mustang? like 90-2004 some where in that model?
I’m looking for an a fordable mustang or dodge dakota because i don’t wanna pay to much for a ”first car”

A: Try Craigslist.com

Q: Is paying $120/month for car insurance for a used Ford Mustang expensive?
it is full coverage!

A: It’s reasonable depending on your age, where you live and driving record. When I retired I moved from an urban area In Michigan to a sparsely populated area in northern Michigan. My insurance was cut basically in half. Less car theft, less traffic means less chance of an accident and I’m 65 years old and haven’t had a traffic ticket in 12 years. This was only the second ticket I had gotten in all my years of driving.

Q: Is $4000 a lot for a used 2001 Ford Mustang?
I’m think of buying a $4000 used Ford Mustang,is that alot?

It has 106,000 miles on it already, and the previous owner bought it for $5000 used with 80,000 miles on it.Everything on the car works fine, the only thing that’s wrong is that the paint looks just a little worn out.

And the current car i have now is also a Mustang, and it’s a 1998 model,i don’t trust it too much, since it’s all patched up(replaced engine,no air bag, different hood,) it was in a car wreck before we bought it so yeah.

So do you think $4000 is a lot for the 2001 used model?

A: thats about right

Q: I bought a used Ford Explorer 1994 and when I go over speed bumps the thing feels like its going to fall apart
My used 1994 ford explorer I bought runs great, it has a few little issues i’m gonna get taken care of but when I go over speed bumps the thing feels like it will literally fall apart… it sometimes does it too when I stop or start and it feels like there is something loose… my dad says its probably the suspension, and this is my first SUV. It otherwise runs great no problems, any ideas, thanks

A: I agree with your dad. Sounds like your shocks or struts (which ever you have) are bad and need to be replaced.

Q: Question about a used ford explorer suv?
I am interested in buying a 1996 used ford explorer that has 185,000 miles. I am hesitant because of the mileage but the vehicle is in pretty good keeped condition. Should I buy it? Its for sale for 1300.

A: You don’t get much for $1300. for peace of mind, have a mechanic
check it out, otherwise go for it!

Q: How can I find out if my used ford explorer is still under factory warranty?
I do not want to contact the Ford dealer or where I bought it from.

A: Most Ford’s come with a 3 year 36,000 or 50,000 mile warranty. If you have passed that most likely you don’t have a warranty. But whats the big deal about contacting a Ford dealer? call them, tell them the year and make and model and they can tell you for sure if you still have a warranty.

Q: Where can i get a used 1997 Ford Explorer V6 engine?
My 1997 Ford Explorer V6 engine shattered a piston and bent three con rods and valves. I need to replace it. Any ideas where i can order a good used engine from? alternatively i could rebuild it but i would need to buy the liner kit. Any ideas also where i can order the liner kit from. i would like to compare the costs of the alternatives.

A: junk yard

Q: Is this a realistic price for a used ford explorer or expedition?
I’ve seen a couple online for about $2,000-$4,500 and i was wondering if these were realistic prices, I cant really exceed $5,000 but I really want this car, if i were to buy one of these even with a car-fax report do u think there would be stuff wrong with the car that i would have to pay extra to fix? I appreciate your help I don’t have much knowledge on cars

I was looking at the 1999 and 2000 models

A: Try Kelly Blue Book. http://kbb.com

Q: I am looking to buy a used Ford Explorer. Anyone have one for sale?
Color is really not an issue unless it’s red (no red) and mileage doesn’t matter that much. However, let’s talk about price.
I’m looking in the South Central Indiana area.

A: Try looking on http://www.craigslist.org

Q: I bought a used 2001 Ford Explorer and it has the keypad on the door to unlock it but I don’t know the combo?
I bought a used 2001 For Explorer Sport and it has a keypad on the outside to unlock the car but I don’t know the combination. It has all of the manuels but it doesn’t say the combo.

Is there a way for me to reset it? Or can I find out what it is?

THANKS!

A: My local Ford dealer wants $25 to look up the code(but they are big Aholes).

Q: How much would a used 2003 ford explorer be?
I would like leather sits, no 3rd row seating, dual air conditioning, and just everything that needs to be on a car

A: $6,000 to $10,000 depending on Mileage and options..

Q: I recently purchased a used 1992 Ford Explorer, there has been gas fumes raging through the vents?
everytime we drive for a good distance the car gets hot and starts blowing strong gas fumes through the vents, now my girlfriend and I are both having signs of headahces, dizziness and nausea! Could it possibly be from Carbon Monoxide from driving with the fumes for the past 3 months!

A: thats what u get for getting an 18 year old car

Q: How much to rebuild or buy a used 2003 Ford Explorer Transmission?
This truck is nothing but problems. Tranny is slipping, o/d sensor is bad…

A: Make sure the transmission dipstick shows full when the truck is HOT, parked and engine idling. If it still slips, I’d have the transmission pan removed by the Ford Dealer and let their transmission technician see what debris is in the pan. Have them change the filter and hope for the best. It’s worth the money unless your positively sure the transmission can’t be fixed easily without replacing it. Then, if you want to keep the vehicle for 5 years or more, have a new remanufactured Ford or http://www.jasperengines.com transmission installed. Both have 3 year 100,000 mile warranties, whereas a junk yard transmission is like “rolling the dice” http://www.junkyarddog.com http://www.car-parts.com DON’T have the transmission “rebuilt” by any transmission shop.

Q: Opinions on buying a used 2004 Ford Explorer?
It has 4×4, 88,508 miles on it and they’re asking $8,864 for it. It looks great. Is this a good deal. Anyone had bad/good experiences owning an 04 Ford Explorer? Thanks

A: sounds like deal to me

Q: What is the average price for a quality paint job on mid-sized SUV, like a Ford Explorer?
I recently bought a used ford explorer and am not satisfied with the paint. It has chips, discoloration, etc. I was just curiuos what it would cost to get a new pant job for it.

A: if you go to someone
you know.

Just ask some
friends if they
know someone
that paints cars.

But you would
probably be lookin
at around $300-$800

Hope i helped

Q: GUYS!!! OR ANY ONE WHO NO’S ABOUT CARS. can u help me find a cheap used ford explorer engine.?
this question is not for me but its for my mom.. dos anybody no a place in louisville, elizabethtown, radcliff, or vinegrove where she would be able to find a used…2001 ford explorer engine that is a 4.0 and a 6 cylinder.. and is also a automatic 4 wheel drive… thanks for the help i really appreciate it..

A: google engineworldusa.com

Q: What do you guys think of a used ‘98 ford explorer?
1998 Ford Explorer XLT SOHO
135,000 miles
power everything
leather seats
amazing condition/ no dents or anything

but i have no idea how the engine or transmision works
and i cant afford to take it to a dealer or mechanic to check it out

so what are some common problems with fords?
and what do you think about it?

A: The biggest concern with those with the 4.0 SOHC engine was the timing chain tensioners. If you’ve got a problem with those, your best bet for repair is a dealer. There are special tools to set the timing on them, the easiest thing to check for is a ticking noise from the engine. You could also have a dealership run the VIN number and see if repairs were already made. Other than that they were really good vehicles.

Q: i need help finding a new or used 1994 ford explorer transmission?
does anyone know a site where i can find any?
ive looked everywhere and i cant find anything? :[

A: Tey your phonebook and look under junk yards or salvage yards, they will be able to either sell you one or point you in the right direction

Find great deals and more information about used Porsche 911 Turbo at your number one automotive resourceCarAutoPortal.com

Q: What oil should i use for my porsche 911 turbo S
I live in europe and got the car shipped to Greece. I am currently living in Greece and i am running out of oil. I used to use Mobile 1 Synthetic oil. Now when i look around in gas stations here and i cannot find any mobile oil. Maybe i can use any alternatives located in Europe? Please help.

A: I would continue to use Synthetic oil. I would call the local Porsche Dealer in Greece and ask what synthetic oil they use currently.

Q: why at the lemans 24 hour race they use porsche 911 gt3 instead of 911 turbo?

A: First, the car that is racing at Le Mans in the GT2 class is not a street car, but a dedicated race car that is “based” on the Carrera GT3. The GT3 is made specifically as a model for the race car to be based on. All GT class cars in sports racing are based on a production model where the model in question must have a certain number of street models produced in order to be able to run in that class.

As such, the GT3 is aimed at optimizing a car for the set of rules… the Turbo is not. First, the Turbo is AWD, which is not allowed under the current regulations. Second, in order to run a Turbo, they would have to create a new engine with a much smaller displacement… or they would have to enter a turbo based model in the GT1 class, where it would not be competitive, falling a well short of the hp produced by the larger engined cars in that class.

If you wanted to compare just the street model GT3 against the Turbo, you’d find they are both very good performers, but the Turbo is a much heavier car that is more compromised for comfort than the GT3. While both would be fast, a good driver should be able to turn faster times in the GT3 than the Turbo on a dry track (though, when a 997 based GT2 appears, that will move a turbo engine into the same basic platform as the GT3 and yield something of a monster).

And just to add, in regards to the new GT3 Class – looking back at the development of the 996 GT3. Porsche homogolated the GT2 class GT3RSR against the special street version GT3 RS. The car that was able to run in the GT3 class was the GT3 Cup car, which is essentially a race prepped version of the street car (320hp or so vs. the 480hp of the GT3RSR, and many many other major differences). The GT3 Cup car is designed as a cost effective form of racing for teams that find normal GT classes too expensive to be competitive in. The Turbo is not developed here because it falls even further away from the rules, and it’s cost to operate would be much higher, making it poorly suited to such a class.

You may see an occassional Turbo entered in something like the Speed World Challenge GT… though they are generally not competitive while the GT3 Cup cars are (developing a car to race form can be very costly and time consuming).

Q: Porsche 911 turbo or Nissan gtr?
Hey, so I am considering to buy a used 2009 Nissan Gtr, or a 2007 porsche 911 turbo.

These cars have a LOT in common, both are awd, both have 4 seats, both have almost the same bhp, porsche has 493, the Gtr has 485. Both have almost the same top speed.

Now, almost 95 % of you are going to say “Get the Gtr!” and I agree with you guys, i mean the Gtr looks stunning, its faster then the porsche and has a bit better handling. BUT the 2009 models have the problem with the launch control… you know, if you use the launch control on a 2009 model it revs to high and its hard on the clutch, and it WILL destroy the clutch most of the time.

I am also considering to get the Porsche 911 turbo because its extremely reliable, and it will last for 100k + miles.

But in terms of reliability and maintenance, which car is better? (I will not be using launch control on the Gtr if i do get it)

Thanks!

A: the porsche if you can get it for the right price. sure. the nissan has almost as much break horsepower.but its no where near as reliable, the 911 is designed to be as fast as the laws of physics allow.the gtr has only a v6. but yeah its still got the same break horsepower or close to it but the porsche has a v8 and has faster acceleration thats why it has more reliabiltiy than the gtr yeah the skylines an awesome car but its a nissan. a porsche is well a PORSCHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in a gtr youre not focused in the drive as much as the porsche in the porsche you feel like the tiger of the street watchin the little alley cats and knowing theres nothing they can do to beat you .you have more confidence in a porsche.as well as a better party life. in a celebrity music video youre more likely to see a porsche than a nissan. its just an all around better car in basically every aspect. what would a woman rather jump in a porsche or a nissan? you see my point.

Q: Which would you choose: Ferrari 360 Modena, Bentley Continental GT, or Porsche 911 Turbo (997)?
They would be used, have under 20,000 miles, and you have $100,000 budget. Please list your choices in order, and also list more choices if you wouldn’t go with any of these. Thanks.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: What year/configuration of used 911 makes the best long term daily driver?
I am in the market for a used Porsche 911 that I plan on maintaining myself and driving as often as possible. I worked in a garage 20 years ago and have a relative who runs a garage so I have access to knowledge and specialized equipment when needed. He has customers that bring him a 911, a 928 and a 944 so he has experience working on Porsches. I also have another car when the 911 isn’t running. I understand that any used car will require maintenance so my interest is in finding a medium between frequency and difficulty. I know in 1997 the 911 went to being water cooled. I will definitely not be getting a turbo. It seems to me that the base model 1996 is the latest model I should consider, but I don’t know if I should go older to avoid any of the complexity introduced by the newer technology in that model. I would much prefer something that doesn’t require a NASA supercomputer to diagnose faults.

Note: I live in South Texas, a place that never gets snow that we have to drive in so cold weather is not a concern but daily temperatures in the 90’s are a way of life.

A: Even a ‘64 911 would still serve quite well under daily use. They are reliable and servicable cars… though when all is said and done, there will be more upkeep involved in those older cars (and compared to something newer, they will not be as reliable, even though they will be reliable). Likewise, the newest cars would be extremely well suited, though it sounds like you are looking for one of the air cooled models (which were produced through 1997, with the 996 coming out in ‘98).

So, the main canidates would be the 911SC (‘78-’83), 3.2L Carrera (‘84-89), 964 (‘89-’94), and 993 (‘95-’97). As a generalization, it’s often commented that you should buy the best condition, newest 911 you can afford, which would be a major suggestion for the later 993s.

So starting there… these are great cars. Much heavier and more complicated than the earlier models, they still share quite alot in common with the earlier 911s. The last year (1997) tends to be the most desirable with the introduction year (1995) often selling for a noticable amount less. There is not that much difference between these cars, but some notable differences that affect performance (though a good condition ‘95 would easily trump a mediocre or less condition ‘97).

The 964 models would be another option. Less costly than the 993, and in many cases also less costly than the earlier 3.2Ls (sitting in an area where many people gravitate towards either the newer or older cars leaves these often under valued).

The 3.2L Carrera presents the last of the original design, as the 964 would see much of the basic car redesigned (though still much retained through the 993). The G50 cars (‘87-’89) are considered the most desirable, though the earlier 915 versions are lighter and have not shown as much of a problem in valve guide wear as the later version. However, given possible heat issues in South Texas, the upgraded oil cooler in the later G50 might make this the oldest you would really want to consider. The earlier 915 equipped Carrera would probably be fine unless in slow traffic.

The 911SC has shown great reliablility, but lacks the cooling capability of the 3.2L Carrera. If equipped with the later Carrera cooler or other improvement, it would probably be a fine consideration.

All told though, 1987-97 are likely where you are looking (and earlier will mean simpler even in this group).

Coupes prove to be the most desiable overall. Limited models like the 3.2L Club Sport or 964 RS America are always desirable. AWD models will add complexity, though if you do go this direction, keep in mind that the AWD system offered in the 964 is quite different from that of the 993 and later (most prefer the character of the 993 version).

Q: is it possible to ad a radiator to a porsche 1998 911 [993] turbo?
i want to know if the engine is fit to hold radiator and air cooling is not enough even with oil in kuwait a radiator is extremly important ican only use it in winter without a radiator this porsche was my first car so please tell me idont have to change the engine

A: The air cooled porsches will be JUST FINE in extreme temperatures, as long as you are not just stopped in traffic for long periods of time.

And NO you cant just add a radiator. The block has no place for the water cooling lines to run, nor a place for a water pump.

993 turbos are just fine in places like arizona, where it gets 115* F on a regular basis.

The cars are designed for racing. They face hotter, more extreme conditions on the track than you will even in the hottest of climates driving normally.

Q: Is the porsche 911 997 GT2 just as practical and everyday-drivable as the 911 997 Turbo?
Im seriously thinking about trading in my ‘08 911 997 turbo for something with a “little” more power. Im very familiar with the 911 turbo, but not as much with the GT2. I had a chance to drive a GT2 a few weeks ago at my local track and it was incredible. I love my turbo because i can drive it on the track as well as make use it as a daily driver, and i want to know if i could do the same with a GT2. So c’mon fellow car lovers, help me out!

A: Not really. The GT2 is the more “bat-out-of-hell, take no prisoners” sibling of the 911 family, the Turbo is the more sedate and planted, but it’s more practical. Either way you’re going to be going very fast both on the track and on the road, but it’s the Turbo that has the better road-driving practicality while still being brutal on a track, and its wet-weather holding is phenomenal.

Q: Can I add a “whale tail” to any Porsche 911?
I’d like to buy an used 911. Some are Carrera’s, some are Turbo’s, some are Targa’s. I like the one with the big “table top” or “whale tale”. Which model did they put these on, or was this an add-on option? What’s the difference between the Carrera, the Turbo, and the Targa? If I buy a 911 and add a tail, will it make the value go down? If ok, would I even be able to find an affordable tail?
Oh, and the Cabriolet! What’s the difference between these models? I’m looking for something in the ‘86 to ‘88 range.

A: The “Whale Tail” was mostly offered only on 930 model (930, Turbo Carrera, and 911 Turbo) models, though the similar (but definitely not identical) Carrera tail was available on other cars. The Whale Tail was offered outside the 930 model line as part of the M491 Option pack (this was the Turbo Look, which included all of the Turbo upgrades, except the engine and tie-rods used on the 930, and was offered on pretty much all 3.2L Carrera models).

Similar tails to the Carrera tail were offered with earlier Carrera models and have their genesis with the first RSR models. Tails can be added after the fact and are available from a variety of third party makers (check out the maker as the quality can vary), as well simply fitting one recovered from a salvaged Carrera or similar situation. The bigger issue here will be color matching as many factory colors that are now ~30 years old will have faded significantly, but at different rates depending on many factors.

A factory original Carrera tail, or a high quality reproduction, if well matched in finish, should not detract from the value of the vehcile. One of questionable quality with poor fit and finish, etc, will likely lower the overall value. An actual Whale Tail is more questionable… if you were to do a complete Turbo Look upgrade to an 3.2L Carrera, and again using factory or high quality reproduction parts, with high quality fit and finish, you would at least maintain value if not improve it some (although not as much as if it were an actual M491 from the factory)… the Whale Tail alone may be considered undesirable, but it will ultimately depend on the buyer. If well done, there will likely be a buyer that would not consider it a negitive (but it could thin the potential field of buyers).

Of special note though… if you do install the tail, you will also need the front chin spoiler. The factory never installed the tail without the matching piece on the front. A tail without the front spoiler will result in understeer, increasing as the speed increases.

As for the differences in models: The 3.2L Carrera was produced from 1984 until 1989. There are minor differences in most years (1984 had the same steering wheel as the previous 911s where as the new 4 spoke wheel started in 1985; early ‘84 models had their DME chips soldered to the controller, and in ‘87 a new chip with more pins was implemented; AC venting was improved in ‘86… etc), with the major difference being in 1987 the cars received the newer G50 transmission (as well as some chip remapping that resulted in some more hp).

The Carrera was available in three body styles: Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet. The Coupe is the basic hard topped car. The Targa features a wrap around solid glass window in the back with a removable roof. The Cabroilet was a full convertible.

The Turbo Carrera was the same basic car, with the 3.3L tubo charged engine and some related upgrades (larger wheels, 917 derived brakes, stiffer suspension, wider fenders and whale tail, use of the 930 transmission, and other minor changes). The higher power coupled with the somewhat severe turbo lag gives these cars a very different character than the normally asperated 3.2L version. The Turbo cars were available in all three body styles.

Additionally, there were a few notable limited edition cars produced as part of the 3.2L Carrera production: the Club Sport (a lighter weight version of the coupe with a little more power and some other small upgrades) and the Speedster (produced only in ‘89, this is a low windscreened Cabriolet with a rear tonneau cover… almost all had turbo fenders, though a few were produced with just the standard Carrera flares). The 930S model was also available in the 80s, which is basically a standard Turbo Carrera with the 935 inspired flat nose body work. The first two command notable premiums, while the 930S is usually priced just slightly more than similar 930 models (after a period where they probably could be had for less).

Q: Why are used cars in America cheaper then cars in Canada?
Ok, to start of i live in canada and i am turning 17 years old.. i have around 40 grand saved up from hard work over the last 3 years and some money from my parents. Anyways i am very passionate about cars my career in the future is going to be based on working with cars. And of course 40 grand is quite a lot, and i am going to buy a sports car with it, my first option was a bmw m3, for around 20 grand and then i would spend 20 grand on tuning it. I thought that the car was out of style, so i tried a bmw m5 (from 2006) this car is my favorite car…

But anyways, i was on some websites that shows used cars of canada.. i was looking at the m3.. i thought well 20-30 grand i can afford it. Then i looked at the bmw m5 and the cheapest car i could find was 48 grand.. which i could not afford.. I also looked at the porsche 996 turbo cheapest was 55 grand..

I tried many american sites as well, and i found that the same exact cars were alot cheaper! The bmw m5 was 30-40 grand which is very cheap, the porsche 911 turbo again 35-45 grand, very very cheap..

I was wondering why is it so god damn cheap in america?? and its not only one website.. i tried at least 5 others and the cars were still very cheap, this applied to other cars to not just porsches and bmw’s..

No, the cars were not damaged in floods or any accident.. (i know this for a fact)..

But my question is, why are used cars so much more cheaper in America then in Canada?

A: try converting the currency. American dollar is just worth more than Canadian dollars. Then again, if you haven’t figured that out, then you should be driving. amirite?

Q: how do u get the cars from cheat codes on nfs undercover?
i used a cheat code for the die cast porsche 911 turbo and it said that it worked but there wasnt a car in my garage

A: only in quick race these cars can be yours

Q: Do most Families that know how to drive a manual transmission all drive sticks?
Does any other families around the country do the same? Mom made us kids learn how to drive a stick. She use to race them Porsche’s you know… But everyone in my family drives some sort of stick shift, and we are spread out across the country. My parents are closer to 70 and I see know Buicks in thier future!

Parents cars:

Mom; 2004 Audi S4 6spd and 1996 Porsche 911-993 Turbo s (last of the air-cooled engines!)

Dad; 2007 Saab 9-3 60th anv. sport sedan 6spd

I drive; 2002 Honda Civic Coupe EX 5spd, 1967 Oldsmobile 442 4spd, Girlfriend sold a BMW 540i 6spd bought it Texas sold for a Honda CRV.

Twin Brother in Colorado drive a 2005 Nissan Xterra, sister in law drives a 2008 Acura TSX 6spd

Younger brother and wife; 2007 Subaru Outback wagon with 5spd, 2005 Lexus LX470(auto), 2002 Honda Civic lx sedan 5spd and a 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 with 4spd.

younger sister just moved to North Carolina and bought a Acura TSX 6spd.

A: Most people in families like yours are apt to learn to drive a stick.

After you drive for awhile, and if really enjoy driving for driving, I think you might also prefer a standard. I prefer a stick over an auto, just because of the enjoyment and thrill of driving it.

Q: Now since that event of someone trying to steal my porsche 911 i have desided to sell it(its only been a week)
So since its a 2000 porsche and has parts people want i have decided to sell it and i had just bought it “how good things leave so fast”, but i still have not given up on the porsche plan, since the 00 porsche inscurance was high, i need octane 91 gas, and an atemptend theft i am selling it for a less valued Porsche 911.
——-
The 1990-1994 Porsche 911(964)
Its seem like thefts don’t want it as much, and i can use less high octane gas ,and insurance should be less and i don’t have to worry about it now to much.
I want a grey exterior, any interior, auto if i can get it.
My question about a 964 porsche, theft ratings, MPG, average estimate cost to maintain one a year(drive 50miles all day and 40 on weekends), and safety, & quality of parts. My 00 porsche is great but its to much of a hasltle. i will be searching for a 964 starting tomorrow. NO 4 or S or Turbo JUST the basic to keep cost, insuracne, theft, and gas consumption down. Also the size of the trunk.

A: about gas & Porsche

My mechanic let me know when I had a Mercedes that was over 5 years old – that I could switch down to 89 octane.

My Porsche is a 2001 – and he told me the same. I have switched – and guess what – I get better mileage now…

Pssst – I got rid of the Jag – and it did better with lower octane, I’ve picked up a used BMW and it loves 89 octane…

According to my trusted mechanic – after 5 years, with the computerized sensors – the car will adjust and be fine… they just don’t want you doing it younger and under warantee… or so I’ve been told.

Enjoy the cheaper gas – I bought some at 2.49-9 this weekend!!!! Wahooo…

Q: would it cost more than £5000 per year to insure a Ferrari F430? heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp?
would it cost more than £5000 per year to insure a big fast sports car like a ferrari f430 or porsche 911 turbo or Lamborghini gallardo?
if i have a 3 years no claim bonus.
i have been driving for 5 years.
i have a full UK license
i drive aroung 15k miles per year(if i use it as an everyday car)
i park it in my driveway.

A: Asking the same question over and over.

Obviously only a kid with the childish “heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp”!

Q: Need for speed Pro Street help please!?
Which cars are the best to use against Showdown King? I have managed to defeat him in Speed challenge and Drag but in the different types of Gripraces I’m have extremely much problem – I’m using a full-trimmed Porsche 911 Turbo (the one who costs 185,000)- and in Drift I lose with more than 1000 points all the time and I’m using a full-tuned Mazda RX8! And please tell me these cars you tell me to use against Ryo (Showdown King) Should I use them against the other kings too? If it helps… What I’m looking for is a car who drifts good in sharp turns (you know those citycourses… they are driving me crazy!)

A: Well, for good/really good results, try these cars* for each type of race (These DEFINETLY Work For Me and money*** may be a problem):
Grip, Sector Shootout and Time Attack: Nissan GTR
Drag and Wheelie Competition: Dodge Charger
Speed Challenge and Top Speed Run: Pagani Zonda F
Drift: Dodge Viper**

*If you can get them.
**This car works really well.
***If you have AR Max and you live in the UK, thats good bcoz these codes can help you with money problems:

Mastercode
AQX7-X102-5Y45C
MYAX-TR33-NMH39

$999,999,999
N0RX-DMUQ-8TVD0
2GNC-H74M-47HTY

Q: Need For Speed Pro Street help!?
Which cars are the best to use against Showdown King? If it helps… What I’m looking for is a car who can drift good maybe “dominating” in sharp turns (you know those citycourses… the are really anoying!)
And I also forgot to tell you that I use a mazda RX8 in drifting (full-tuned)

A: ok….i beat prostreet in 2 weeks…the drift car that u will need to use against ryo is the mazda rx-8…do every bit of work to it..get a wide but high wing to boost aerodynamics dont use clutch manual…jus use regular manual…the 1st drift is a lil difficult but as long as u swing that car in the 1st turn n hold it to about 8000ish points n keep goin u will be fine…for the drags u want shelby gt 500 by far!…ive never got 2nd place wit that car its alwayz been 1st and the new evo is good for the grips and attack races…i believe that their is a speed challenge? nissan skyline gt-34 but make sure to be careful on every turn!..hope this helps

Find great deals and more information about used toyota mr2 at your number one automotive resourceCarAutoPortal.com

Q: Where can i buy a used 1991 toyota mr2 repair manual?
maybe a reprint
would other years work fine such as a 1992 or 93?

A: Google it, sure there is one out there. I got mine from the internet, just forgot the site, secondly there is always one in ebaymotors.com.

Q: what do folks think about the toyota MR2 as a used sports car?
I am looking for something just to use on weekends or in the summer; want it to be dependable and get decent mileage; mostly be fun to drive…what do you think?

A: I like it, I used to own a Fiat X-1/9 which was a similar concept and a real blast to drive. Toyota, like you say would be way more dependable.

Q: What could be good for an affordable used convertable?
I dont know if i should look into a used Toyota MR2 Spyder or a Mazda or a Pontiac or well i dont know anyway if its used, convertable, and about $10,000 im good

A: The pontiac definitely has the best looks. To me, the mazda is a close second (current style), and has a higher reliability rating, so it might be a better choice if you plan on keeping it a long time. I’d avoid the toyota, to me it seemed too cramped, and the styling was kind of strange.

Q: What are the minor and major problems of a Second Generation Toyota MR2 Turbocharge?
I am planning to buy a used JDM MR2 with a 3sgt engine. I would want to know what problems (big or small) I might face with the car.

Thank you in advance!

A: you can google mr2 turbo specs and recalls to find out the main problems with those cars, so far all i found was normal wear and tear and one recall for steering wheel air bags which should be repaired for free if its a recall

Q: Toyota mr2 mk2 is the bar thats used to do both camber trackin meant to twist a little by hand or not?

A: No it should be tight.

Q: Mazda mx5 miata or Toyota mr2 for normal use?
Which of these 2 roadsters would last longer when used for both entertainment purposes and everyday use? I am referring to the newer MX-5, the one that is closer in appearance to the MR2.

A: well i have a 1990 mazda miata and i love it. it is supposed to be reliable and in 20 years i have had no trouble with it. the miata is also a fun car because of it handling but it is not a very fast car unless you get the mazda speed or a newer year miata. i dont know much about toyota mr2s but i think they are supposed to be simalar to the miata in handling and a little faster. i have no idea about the reliability of it though.

Q: how much psi does toyota mr2 use?
how much fuel psi does 91 toyota mr2 na

A: your question dosent really make sence?
If its an N/A it wont be running any boost (Psi), it would be running vacuum..
But you said fuel Psi so i assume you mean how much pressure would run in the fuel lines? Very little

Q: Why doesn’t Toyota make any sports car anymore besides that Mr2?
Honda made itself a sportier image since year 2000.Toyota used to have this image before.Supra,Celica,Mr2.what happened>?

the Toyota f1 team always beat honda. So why can’t they make a sports car>?

A: sure toyota makes sports cars! what do yu call the camry? (the toyota camry is the car toyota runs in NASCAR)

Q: toyota mr2 questions?
please answer as many of these questions as you can:
-is the mr2 only a convertible car?
-how’s the gas mileage on average?
-what’s the average cost for a used mr2 (model year around 2000)?
-would YOU rather buy the toyota mr2 or the toyota celica, and why?

A: The MR2 came as a t-bar convertible and a hard top
not too sure on exact gas consumption figures but has a 1.6L engine, so not a heavy drinker.
its hard to put a price on an MR2 because of the different prices in different countries. However in New Zealand dollars for a 90’s MR2 up to the 1999 second generation MR2 (most common) looking around about NZ$1500 – $2000
or for the 3rd generation model (The MR-S or MR2 Spyder or MR2 Roadster) whatever it is called in your country) you could be looking at about NZ$10,000 – $15,000

in my personal opinion would prefer to own an MR2

Q: what kind of engine oil to use for mr2 toyota year 1992, what other things to consider to make it last longer?

A: A Semi or Fully Synthetic Oil is strongly recommended for the MR2 Turbo. Heat from the turbo can break down non-synthetic oils.

Toyota specify a 10W30 oil for the engine, but UK dealers commonly use a 10W40 Semi-Synthetic, Castrol GTX Magnatec. This oil performs well, but appears to be easily ‘used’ by engines – any use should be revealed by the usual weekly fluid level checks.

Mobil-1 15W50 fully synthetic oil is recommended by many owners – it is available at larger motor factors. The more commonly available 5W50 and 0W40 Fully Synthetic oils have been found to cause excessive engine noise when the engine is cold, and are probably too thin for the MR2 Turbo.

Due to the large amount of heat generated by the turbo, a period of idling is strongly recommended after any hard runs, to allow oil to circulate past the turbo and cool it down.

Q: Is 200k miles going to be a problem for a buying toyota mr2?
im looking at getting a used car and i found a few twin turbo mr2 s all with 190k + miles on them. im 16, so this will be mostly for getting around and to school. are the miles going to be a problem?

A: twin turbo mr2?… .never heard of it, well at least not from the factory…. it’s not stock, so most likely it’s been modified to race. it won’t be a good idea to buy a car that’s been abused, especially since you need a ride to get to school. if this car is in the condition that cars built for racing usually are, i don’t recomend it.

Q: Toyota camery V6, will it fit in the engine bay of a mk2 Toyota mr2?
The new lotus has a camery engine in it, does this mean that it could fit in an mr2?
With the chassis being lengthened by almost 11 inches and no need for boot space is it possible.
Im looking at an “extreme murci” kit car which uses the mk2 mr2 as a frame, but want to throw in a v6 for a meatier engine sound.

A: check mr2oc.com this has been done before as well as other toyota v6s and even some cadillac and audi v8s! I believe the frames are not lengthened

Q: What is the oil capacity for a 2002 6-cylinder Turbo Toyota MR2 Spyder? And what oil should I use?
Viscosity of oil to use and why?
Wait…that’s not right! (Not my car…lol) …it’s a 2006 6-cylinder Turbo Toyota MR2 Spyder. …and what viscosity/why?

A: According to my database this engine was never offered in the mr2 spyder in fact the only engine offered for this vintage of mr2 is the 1.8 litre L-4 this has to be a conversion car! EDIT the stpaulguy didn’t read your engine option… He gave you the specs for the 1.8 L normally asperated engine!!!!

Q: tyres on a toyota mr2?
i need to no if i can change to 17inch by 7jj and what size tyres should i use on toyota mr2 1991

A: You should go up to a Toyota dealer ship or Any Tyre store and ask them.

Q: Toyota MR2 Mk1 headlamps…same as any other model??
Hi

Does the Mk1 Toyota MR2 (1988) use the same headlamps as any other Toyota?

Thanks in advance

A: No, unique to the MK1 MR2, they look similar to the old Celica supra coupe but arent.
Try a scrap yard, I expect there is a fan club that could help you locate a decent set, lovley little cars.

Q: I am planning a used car Toyota camry 1. 1998 2.2 ltr SR20X CSI Manual low kms (2.) 2002 Toyota Camry high kms?
which will be best option to go ahead

A: The quality of these vehicles depends on the quality of the maintenance and how they have been driven.

Ask to see the maintenance records. I would choose the one that can show that the regular oil changes have been done. Look for signs of good maintenance – clean air filter, lubricated door hinges and check arms, anti-freeze fluid changed… Generally, the owner who maintains their vehicle well, also will take better care and not abuse the vehicle when they are driving the vehicle.

Q: toyota camry 1998 would you not buy one with a 4cylinder?
I am looking to buy a used toyota camry today but I don’t know if I should buy the 1998 camry because of the 4cylinder engine, can someone please help me, do they run as long as a 6cylinder and reach the same high miles if taken care of? also I am worried that it will not have any power, thank you, Mick

A: they run just as long as any other toyota motor,,the only thing you need to keep in mind is if you have a heavy foot and like to pick up quick then the 6 is for you but the 4 is still good,,not as peppy but better on gas,,,,its a camry ,,with a 4 cyl dont expect to race

Q: 15000 (15K) maintenance service for 2009 Toyota Camry but the adviser used regular oil instead synthetic oil?
Did a 15000 (15K) maintenance service (for like $180!!) for a 2009 Toyota Camry. I assumed that the service adviser knew that the new Camry 4-cylinders use synthetic oil so I vouched for the expensive maintenance service.

But the adviser said it used regular oil instead of the synthetic oil as the Camry can use both. I perused the online forums and found that new generation Camry does need synthetic oil.

Would I be able to argue and get the car serviced right with synthetic oil if I contact them and ask to get synthetic without out of pocket since I already paid for the 15k?

Thanks.

A: you got ripped off. Dang. I hate it when that happens. Synthetic Oil is far superior to conventional motor oil but costs 3 times a much. Synthetic oil prevents engine wear MUCH better than conventional oil and flows better in heat and cold and that’s exactly what you should be using especially if the printed literature on your vehicle says so. Your dealer doesn’t give a hoot in hell about your car now that he sold it to you and, in fact, wants it to wear out so he can sell you another one ASAP. I would go back and demand the synthetic oil (especially for $180!!) Make sure you talk to the service department MANAGER and the salesman that sold you the vehicle. Present your case and the supporting printed documentation that says it takes synthetic oil and also the sales receipt for $180.00 (geez…that’s alot of money) Don’t settle for conventional oil in that car. Synthetic oil will help it last 200,000 miles.

Q: what should installations costs be to install used engine in a 1998 toyota camry?

A: 8 hrs labor. check garage hourly rates –multiply by 8 and plus new parts-belts -fluid-hoses etc

Q: Can you use a 91 toyota camry starter in a 93?
We went to the junk yard and they didn’t have anything over a 1991 to pull off of. the starter works and all, and I think you can use from 92 to 96, but that’s for alternators, so what about starters? could i use the 1991 starter i found in my 1993 toyota camry? they look the same. just a question.

A: yes it will work. make sure your disconnect the battery prior to the install

Q: Where can i find Cheap Engines for Toyota Camry 2005 ?
I need a used engine for toyota camry 2005. Any websites? or any sources anybody know of? Ive already searched Ebay.

A: look for “jdm” (japanese domestic market) engines. find the engine model and search by that, the engine might be in other toyotas
be sure that your engine will fit emission requirements for your state
quick Google search yielded these:
http://www.tigerautoparts.com/2jz-gte-dohc-engine-5-speed-transmission-twin-turbo-toyota-supra-124.html

http://www.jdmenginescorp.com/engines/toyota/

it might be easier to buy a new car

Q: About how much should I pay for a Toyota Camry 1995 Alternator? both new and used prices would be appreciated?
I’m in Australia, it would be great if u could put the currency down too. Thanks
Thank you my friends for your advice.

I just got one replaced for AU$350, fixed up extra $50 so total AU$400.

should be around US$327. very glad it wasn’t more.

maybe a bit on the expensive side from what you have quoted in the US but the alternator is quite new. should be ok. glad it was fixed in less than 3 hours so we can get back to normal life

Thanks Guys, you all are great.

A: i own a shop and here in the states a new one cost over a 100 dollars real easy and a rebuilt one around 80 dollars ,so there is a lot of difference in price on these,i don’t know in your currency what that would be but here depending on the year of it ,some of them can cost around 300 for a new one, good luck i hope this helps.

Q: what type of freon does a 91 toyota camry use?
What type and how many pounds should be the goal?

A: Your vehicle uses R-12 which can prove to be expensive. It needs to be charged by a professional, who can check for leaks. The A/C system is sealed and no freon means a leak. At $50/ lb. for R-12 (x2 in your Camry), a leak can become very costly.

Good Luck

Q: toyota camry radio just play odd freq what to do to get the even ones?
i’ve just bought used 2004 toyota camry imported from US there is problem with my radio i cant get even freq just the odd ones so is there any thing i can do to get the even channels.
us fm system just put channels on odd freq but in europe system they put channels on odd and even freq

A: You’ll need to replace your Camry radio with one made for European radio standards.

Q: what kind of service will a used 2002 Toyota camry require with 70,000 miles & at waht cost?

A: it will soon nead a timing belt generly at 80000 it will run bout 400-600
maby a brake job arond 300-400

Q: What is the best way to sell a used toyota, with expired registration?
My friend was ill and went back to Europe, leaving me his old toyota camry. The registration expired in August, and I have not filled in the title or notified DMV, as I thought that is done when I sell the car. Do I have any problem in selling it with the expired tags, and is there any law regarding the time frame, or can I just turn over the car to the buyer and fill in the date when I sell it?

A: Legally if you never made the change, it isn’t your car to sell. But if your friend just signed the seller’s spot and didn’t date it, and you didn’t put your name on it anywhere, you can probably get by with just handing the signed title to the buyer. If he did date it, and more than 30 days have gone by there could be some penalties to pay. Of course the buyer can’t drive it until he gets the tags up to date, legally, but you have no power to stop him drom driving it away once you have the cash…so…

Q: How do I replace the remote for my ‘98 Toyota Camry LXE?
I recently bought a used camry that the previous owner lost the remote to the doors, trunk and alarm. I contacted a dealer but they told me their mechanics would have to search for the car’s brain at a cost of $95.00/hour. I want to obtain a remote so I can use the alarm, doors, and trunk.

A: I think you can by generic remotes that can be programed. I had to buy one for my remote starter……..

Q: Toyota Camry or Honda Accord?
I am trying to decide whether to get a used Toyota Camry XLE or a used Honda accord( dont know which trim) I found out that a 2002 toyota camry XLE is 9200. doenst have that many miles on it. PLEASE HELP!

A: CAMRY. The dimwit that said Toyotas have no style and look like shoe boxes probably has a 2dr civic with the coke can exhaust and all. Try both cars, decide for yourself.

Q: does 2008 toyota camry use timing change?
oh my bad, i meant timing chain.. but i m planning to purchase a solara, wondered if it’s engine (v6, or I4) using chain? or belt?

A: Timing change, or Timing chain? If your question is the chain one, yes it has a timing chain, not a belt. If you are refering to the ability to change the timing while running then see vinh t’s answer.

Q: how do I get a history of a car by its calif. license plate 4TAE437 1997 Toyota Camry for a used car to buy?
the car is at the dealership and I don’t have the vin#. How can I get the history without the vin#.

A: you need the vin # to run a carfax, if you’re buying it from a dealer ask them for one.

Q: should i get a 2007 used Honda civic Si or a used titan crew cab2007?
the honda has 7k miles on it and the Titan has 5k miles.. I need a Main car to get to work and go to the bay area to fish..the price on both of the car, and truck are the same.. i need a car that will last me a long time, with no future problem. I live in ca and the gas prices are so high the honda take only premium 24 city 32 hwy the titan 14 city 19 hwy

A: Honda, Honda and only Honda – drives forever, easy to maintain

Q: New 2009 Honda Civic or Used 2007 Honda Civic Si?
I have choice between these two cars. Both are the same price, but each have their own advantages.

Civic Si

about 200 hp
fast
21mpg(city)
used-29,000 miles
premium package

New (regular civic)

26mpg
new
slow
140 hp
very low maintenance

A: I bought a used Civic in Virginia last year and saved a lot. I haven’t had any problems yet. I’ll never buy a new car. http://www.findusedcardealer.com

Q: I need an owners manual for a 2007 Honda Civic Si?
I recently bought a used 2007 Honda Civic Si from a private seller and the previous owner didn’t have the owners manual for it. Does anybody know where I can get one? Some one told me to try a dealer but I would assume it would be pretty pricey from them.

A: Check ebay as they are pretty common to find there. If not you may need to ante up and pay the dealer.

Q: Thinking of buying a honda civic si 09 used need help?
Hi, this is my 1st time buying a car and i need some advice.

I’m 20 years old and have 20k to spend and was looking at this honda civic si 09 used
Price $21,488
Mileage 5,581
Body StyleCoupe
Exterior ColorTaffeta White

its the basic trim of the si no tires or navi

how much do you think its worth? or how much do you think i can haggle out of the deal?
there are no wrx’s sold in my area new or used for 100 miles nor are there ralliarts

the si is affordable durable and still fun to drive and cheaper to insure unfortunatly there are no 2010 models in the color i want

A: go to kbb.com for the price

Q: what kind of gas does a 1999 honda civic si use?
im thinking about getting a 99 honda civic si with a dohc vtec engine in it and i was wondering what type of gas i would have to pump in it (unleaded, premium , or high test)
thanks for the help

A: 87 octane
and no higher octane does not burn cleaner unless your engine has the compression to burn it. It can actually carbon up the valves because you don’t have enough heat to use the higher octane. With 10.2-1 compression 87 octane is just fine unless your racing it.

Q: Why does my Honda Civic Si engine smell like burnt rubber after I drive it?
I bought a used ‘08 Honda Civic Si about a week ago. The engine smells like burnt rubber every time after I drive it. I’m not very good at driving the car yet;; I’ve done bad shifting and have definitely stalled a few times. Is it smelling weird because I’m burning the clutch..?

A: It could be an oil leak dripping in your manifold exhaust or transmission fluid leak dripping in your exhaust. Have it check by a good Honda mechanic. Hope this helps!

Q: 2006 Honda Civic SI help advice!!?
Well im looking into buying a used Honda Civic SI its had about 65000 miles on it, and the dealer brought the price down to 14900, im in love with the car and i dont even own it yet. I just want someone who knows anything about thses care to tell mw what they think about it.

Thanks in advance

A: I think the price seems good but you have to remember unless the dealer quoted you out the door at 14900 its actually gonna be more around 16300 because of tax title and license fees which are roughly 10% of the cost. I bought my 07 civic si with 19,000 miles on it for 16,000 I talked them down from 21,000 clean car fax and 1 previous owner. most places want to sell cars right now so you will get a good deal. keep trying to talk it down but the price seems good I would go for 14900 out the door flat. It’s a great car though very happy with mine I’m up to 36,000 miles and it still runs as strong as when I got it, they will last you forever. If you have more questions on things I would look at 8thcivic.com they have a lot of information on these cars and you will see what other people have paid.

Q: where can i buy a used computer for a 1992 honda civic si?

A: honda civic ecus are a dime a dozen in a junk yard…..just go and look…..and to the dude that said that they are 1000 easily….thats a bunch of bull….from a junk yard they will charge you about a couple of hundred for a used ecu

Q: Used BMW 330Ci Coupe or a new Honda Civic Si?
Both are under $20K and the BMW has 45K miles on it.

A: Do the Civic. Spend a little more & get one new. Then keep it forever.

Q: Does the Honda Civic SI use unleaded regular or does it require unleaded premium?

A: Premium Unleaded; it should tell you in your manual

Q: What type of gas does my 2008 Honda Civic SI need?
I just bought a used Civic and I suspect that it needs 89 or 93 octane grade, but it didn’t come with the owner’s manual so I can’t check. Obviously I don’t want to pay for the more expensive grade if I don’t have to (but I don’t want to mess up my engine either).

Anyone know?
That should be 91* not 93.

A: The octane fuel requirement will be on a sticker on the inside of the fuel filler door.

Q: How to use cruise contorl on Honda Civic SI 2007 Coupe?
As I was trying to use cruise control at 20km/h, the speed did not stay as I intended it to be, was it because I was driving at a relatively low speed, so It was unable to funtion? What’s the correct way setting up cruise control. The car I bought is a used one which did not come with the user manual.

A: cruise control only engages at a certian speed. depending on the car. honda should be about 25 MPH idk about kph

Q: I test drove a used (2004 i think) Honda civic Si hatchback(manual)…?
I drive a jeep wrangler(manual) and the first thing i noticed was that the clutch was way different and easyer to engage the transmissionI(in the civic).

can someone explain this to me. What is the diff. How does it work. I didnt hardly have to move the clutch pedal to engage.

Needless to say i had never driven a car like that and it was very fun to drive!!

A: the civic clutch has a closer gear ratio, making it easier to shift, the clutch is designed for high rev shifting and smoother shifts. jeep shift is like rowing a boat across the panama canal it is designed more for off roading and cruising rather than quick precise shifts

Q: Should I use Synthetic Oil for my 2007 Honda Civic Si?
About to do my first oil change for my New Civic Si. Should I use synthetic oil and if so which one is the better one to use?

A: It might be a good idea to look in the owners manual first
and see what is recommended from there.Don`t just go
and put anything into your car,you may do more harm than
good. Most of the modern cars will take synthetic oil but
it won`t hurt to make sure that its ok to use.

Q: 2008 Honda Civic SI reviews?
Im looking into buying one its a used 2008 Honda Civic SI with 14k miles. The price is $16,000; will go lower if im really interested. No navigation system but everything is pretty much what stock honda interiors look like (gauges are kinda sporty looking) Any good review from current owners or bad reviews from previous owners. Im probably getting the sedan (4 doors) since I have a baby. Let me know about its handling, MPG, comfort level etc.

A: great car. motor trends complaint on it was that you have to rev it high to have fun, powerless at lower rpms. but great car.

Q: Im buying a used dodge charger r/t with 49,188 miles. Is that alot of miles?
the year is 2006. Has basic stuff

A: no that’s not bad mileage at all for an 06 model, the one i been looking to buy has about that much on it also, and its an 07 i think, make sure you get a maintenance schedule with it if possible,it will help you to know how well it was taken care of,good luck with it,enjoy it,the drive really good.

Q: Looking for a used car, Dodge Charger?
Ok, so the transmission on my Jeep Grand Cherokee went and I need another car. I recently found a used 2007 Dodge Charger SE/SXT with 63,000 miles for around $11,000. Just curious what people think of the car and if this is a good deal on it or not. Thanks for your help.

A: which is it, an SE or SXT? Big difference, the SE has the lame 2.7L V6 and 4 speed auto while the SXT has the much better 3.5 with a 5 speed auto.

The price seems on the low side, but the mileage is quite high for a 4 year old car. If it’s the SE I would avoid it, I’ve heard horror stories about that engine, but if it’s the SXT it probably is a pretty good deal, but make sure you bring it to a mechanic to check it out and make sure it’s never been wrecked (either via carfax or the mechanic should be able to recognize the signs)

Q: Where / How do I buy a used 2004 Dodge Charger for under 15,000?
from NJ

this is my first car, male, age 22

any color is fine

A: Check the on-line Autotrader.

Q: Should I go new or used with a Dodge Charger? I put on 25k/yr, and they are offering a liftetime warranty?
Title says it all.

I’m buying a charger in the next week or so.

My dilemma is that I don’t know if I should buy new or used. If I go used, I’ll save 6-7 grand. My warranty will also be up in a year the way I drive.

If I go new, my powetrain warranty will never expire as long as I have the car (but it’s not transferrable).

Problem is, I don’t know how long I’ll want to keep the car for.

Should I go new or used? Or does this just depend on how long I plan on keeping it?

A: Buy a low mileage used one. New cars lose 15-20% of their value the minute you drive them off the lot.
Read the fine print on the warranty – it’s a LIMITED lifetime warranty, be sure you know up front what is and is not covered so there are no surprises!

Good Luck!

Q: should i buy a used dodge charger?
i just wanted to know if it is a good car and worth looking into buying one? hows the gas mileage? is it cheap to fix? is it roomy? i just had a baby and need something big enough for her car seat and reliable for me to be riding around with my newborn, but still cheap to maintain. thanks in advance!

id prob get maybe a 2006 (want to spend maybe about $9,000… so thats prob the newst i could get with that price)

A: The Charger is VERY roomy. Get the SXT model…as it has a touring suspension and will provide a comfortable ride. You can find a 2007 SXT for around 9/10K with under 60K miles.

As far as mileage goes…in the SXT with the 3.5 v6 engine you will be getting around 16-20mpg city/highway mixed driving. And around 21-24mpg highway driving. These cars are heavy so the mpg’s are not that great.

Maintenance on v6 models are relatively cheap…pretty much as most other v6 makes/models. The v8 models are a bit more expensive on the maintenance…but I’m pretty sure you’re looking for a v6.

Chargers are also very safe cars. They can take a hit to the front end and rear end with minimal damage. You might want to try and locate an SXT model with side airbags.

All around a good car for a family sedan.

Hope this helps.

Q: Getting a used dodge charger r/t at the age of 16 (long question)?
So the 16 year old want a Dodge Charger R/T. Well, that for the dreams a lot of adults keep telling me. Like I really give a dang about their opinion. I just want facts… I am going to get emancipated, get my GED, and start community college. My friend’s dad has show and proven (through his 2 sons), that you can make money as a student of college just from the excess grant money. I really want a Dodge Charger R/T and they are about 12,000 (i know a guy who can help me get them for 20% off, no joke). I live in Arizona and legally, I cannot finance a car till age 18, but if I get emancipated as a legal adult, do I have the possibility to do that?

Or second. I want to take student loans because I know I will pay them back and I know I cannot get a regular loan (to my knowledge). So, with the student loan, I am probably 5, 6 thousand short. Can I get a small finance for that? With me being an emancipated adult + full time college student + I will have a FWS (Federal Work Study/Job) + An undocumented income from a job, will that be enough to help me get a loan or the rest to pay for it?

Or if i try to persuade banks for other student loans, could i straight out buy it?

A: I don’t think that 12k is an unreasonable amount to pay for a car, but for a R/T Charger! not on your life unless you’re looking at a very used beat to crap salvage job.

As far as getting a loan, while an emancipated minor can enter into a legal contract, I doubt very highly that any bank will do it, there’s no law that says they have to, and let’s face it, it doesn’t sound like you’ve been terribly responsible up to this point. Please, I’m not trying to piss down your leg here, just trying to show you what the banks point of view will most likely be.

Q: Do you own a Dodge Charger, or used to own one?
I an thinking of getting one, year between 2008 and 2010..
Let me know what you thought of the car?
I want your opinion.

A: great car. Like what others are saying avoid the 2.7 V-6 just too under powered for the car. Great timeing. You could find some nice deals on new 09 and 2010’s since the 2011 is coming out now and the next couple of months. They re-designed the charger it looks a lot nicer. But they also got rid of the 2.7 and the 3.5 H.O V-6’s. They have a new 3.8 or 3.9 V-6 that is putting out 300 horses and the hemi is bumped to 375 horses. I drove the car from michigan to florida and back great supportive seats, nice get up and go with the 3.5L just great all around car. I would deffenitely reccomend it.

Q: If I bought a 2007 Dodge Charger used in Sept 2007, is the warranty still good? It has 29,000 miles.?

A: As long as the warranty was transferred into your name it should still be good, check your purchase papers.

Q: what parts from other dodge models can be used for a 1975 dodge ram charger?or where can i find parts for it?
need a camper for a 1975 dodge ram charger.also looking for panels and even a front grill.

A: The 1975 to 1978 Chargers were based on the Chrysler Cordoba.

Q: Should I buy a used Dodge Charger (first car i’ve ever had)?
So I’m turning 18 in a while and my parents said I can choose whatever kind of car I want that’s not too pricey. I haven’t decided on the Charger yet but I love the car. There’s only one probably, it’s rear-wheel drive and my dad told me that it’s terrible in the snow, rain, ect. Also i heard it was really bad gas mileage but i’m not sure how much. Can someone please help me make this choice easier and tell me if I should look at another car because of the rear-wheel drive or because of the low mileage it get? Also tell me how much mileage it gets to the gallon. Anyone with backround knowledge please help!!!!!!!!! Thank you!

A: I used to have one and it was great! But I would def stick to an asian import like acura, honda, toyota, infiniti, nissan or lexus. These cars will give you less of a headache in the long run. I would also check the vehicle history first. CARFAX is a ripoff. I always use CHEAPVINSEARCH.COM. They are a relatively new site so not too many people know about them, but I think they are just a reseller of autocheck. But it only costs 9.99 and if you are spending a couple thousand on a car its def worth it. You might to get the car checked out by a mechanic for 200 dollars this could save you a lot of money in the future.

Q: Looking to buy a used car which of these dodge charger, altima coupe, pontiac g6, audi a4?
Hi im looking to get a new car. I am 21 years old and looking for a nice car used. my budget is under 14,000 some of the cars I really like is dodge charger, altima coupe, Pontiac g6, Audi a4 ext.. What would you recommend or if you think a better car would fit that does along with these style of cars feel free to tell me. All advice is great thanks guys!

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: Does anyone know where I can purchase a used police Dodge Charger?
I am looking for a used Police Dodge Charger with the 5.7 Liter HEMI. If anyone knows where I can find one online that’d be great. Or if you see any online please let me know, thanks.

A: In about 8 years more they will be in auction, because they cost a lot of money

Q: I’m tired of my 4 cylinder 2003 Rav4. Would it be worth it to buy a used 2006 Dodge Charger? Your opinion?
I want a nice car with power. I’m afraid of Dodge though, I know Toyotas and Hondas and much better mechanically. What do you think?

A: yes it probably would,it don’t take long to get tired of the slow 4 cylinder ,,i got over it too,but yes if you can afford today’s gas prices it would be worth it,,i started to get one,,but a 4 door charger,,just didn’t cut it with me, but they are nice cars,,good luck i hope this help,s.

Q: Will I be able to find a nicely used 2007 Dodge Charger SXT for under $20,000 w/mileage under 25K?

A: yes you can,you can buy a new one for that much and not have to worry about it having a lot of miles on it,if you found a real good used one you could save some real good money on it because someone else has already paid for the odd charges they tack on to the original price,so if you want a used one yeas you could find one for around 16 or more at most places, good luck with your choice .

Q: used 2009 Dodge Charger…?
currently haggling with a dealer on a used 09 charger base model.
listed on lot at 14,450….
i offered them 12K Cash on the spot and they came back with 15,300 out the door.
i said my final offer of day was 13,500….
the next day they call and took the price down to 15,000.
i went to call them today but the salesman i was dealing with was off.

2009 46,00 miles. the base model. kbb has car listed at 15,985

what can i expect to happen next? i assume its my move. what is a good price to get the car for?

A: you,ll probably wind up getting it for that amount of the offer you made on it,they,ll probably call you back though and fish around with you some on it to see if you,ll go just a little bit higher,i have a family member that sells cars and we danced around for a week on a car i was going to buy,2005 charger to be exact, the mileage will be whats helps you to get it cheaper, most people will question a car being that new with that many miles on it,so they won’t turn down no reasonable offer, all i can say is stick to your offer with them and cross your fingers, and when they call you saying they got another offer, don’t fall for it,its an old trick that’s been used by car dealers for many years and it usually makes the person think they might loose the deal on the car, good luck on getting it.

Q: Buying a Dodge Viper?
i can buy one a car lot for $80,000 used or from the dodge house for 90,00 new with my own sepifecations

A: Well if you really want one then go new with a complete warranty.

Q: How much would a Dodge Viper racing sports car cost?
Suppose I want this car which is used for racing but for my personal use. Is that possible? If so, how and what would be an approximate price?

Here are some pics of the type of cars I’m talking about.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/80/Viper_Comp_Coupe.jpg/800px-Viper_Comp_Coupe.jpg

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3d/Dodge_Viper_Team_Zakspeed.jpg/800px-Dodge_Viper_Team_Zakspeed.jpg

A: Hennessey Performance sells the Viper you are looking for.

No one here is going to give you a price. Try calling the number on the page below.

Expect to pay well over $100,000. A new 2010 Viper has a starting MSRP of $87,000. Add $30,000 – $40,000 in performance upgrades like shown in the car in the link below and you are well above $100,000.

For the most part, If you need to ask the price of a car like this, you can’t afford one.

Q: Dodge Viper Repair cost without Insurance?
Viper was in an accident and needs front fenders, windshield, repair to the windshield frame, ROOF (bolt on) repair to the right rocker panel molding, front bumper cover, head lights, hood, radiator (hit on the bottom) and repairs to the right door and the right quarter skin.
Im asking for an apprx estimate only including labor and parts not using Insurance it will all be paid out of pocket. What am I looking to pay apprx.?.

A: You’re looking at several thousand bucks for all that work even if used parts are used.

Q: I really need to know exactly what a 1995 dodge viper looks like?
ok so heres the deal,my boyfriend’s ‘dream car’ is a 1995 dodge viper.so for a gift i was going to draw him one, make it look all cool and what not.the problem is i’m a ford girl.ask me to draw a 95 mustang no problem, but i really don’t know much at all about dodge, especially the vipers because i’m really not a huge fan in the first place.i’ve tried using google and all that, but i don’t know for sure which picture is correct,so if you could maybe send me some deffinate pictures of a 1995 dodge viper,i would reallyyyy appreciate it. (:
i did already try to google it.i’m not a complete idiot.

A: Approximately the first 44 images are all accurate. The first 6 are 1995 Dodge Vipers. No doubt.

http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&expIds=17259,27586&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=1995+dodge+viper&cp=12&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1112&bih=862

Update: My sister’s an artist, I know that she likes to choose what to draw. That’s why I gave you choices.

Q: When is the best time to get a Dodge Viper?
First and foremost, I am a 25 year old new driver, so I don’t plan on getting this car until I am a lot older. I also understand that this is a very powerful car that could kill me or someone else if I don’t give it the respect it deserves. With that said, here are my questions:

1) What cars can I own and drive in the next few years that can prepare me for a Viper? (I want to progress to slightly more powerful cars and get used to the power; I was thinking about getting an old fox body mustang as a first car)

2) How many years of driving experience is required so that insurance will not break the bank when I buy a Viper?

PS: Drove an ‘87 Porsche 911 Carrera for a couple hours when learning manual and didn’t have much trouble; just so you can get an idea of my level of experience.

A: You’re acting like a car is some type of job or something. I can drive a stick shift Geo the same way I can drive a Viper. It’s how you drive a car that matters. A buddy of mine taught his 14 year old how to drive stick in his lamborghini diablo. You’re making it seem like it’s a big deal when it’s not.

What I would tell you is that pure experience of driving any type of vehicle be it stick shift or automatic will teach you how to keep the car on the road. Also the Dodge Viper is a rear wheel driven car. So you should drive a rear wheel driven car to practice with. Understanding how your rear always wants to spin around you when turning is a good lesson.

Q: Parents had HUGE fight a few days ago over a Dodge Viper now….?
My dad just came home in a one owner 8,000 mile 1996 Dodge Viper RT/10. They are fairly easy to obtain if you have good credit or a good down payment for finance companies that specialize in financing vintage or early model cars. Thank god the prime interest rates went down in this country so people can pursue dreams! I concur with my dad on this topic.

A few nights ago they got into a huge fight because my dad wanted to look at one. Their joint tax return reflects a solid 6 figure income. We’ve always had sensible family sedans. He’s in a good position to obtain one of these cars. The issue isn’t how much the car is, but how fast and flashy they are, according to my mom.

After dishes were thrown over the Viper fight, I was lmao! I love it when my parents fight or argue over silly things. I don’t get why some people find it upsetting or traumatizing. They obviously have no sense of entertainment values or excitement. Once again, I am very excited about the impending “show” soon. I have a recorder set up to record the fight once it goes down.

Speaking of that, my mom just got home. Time to hear an estimated 9 or 10+ fight on my patented argument-o-meter I use to rate my parents arguments or fights.

Anyone else get excited or pumped up when their parents argue or fight especially over something trivial? I’m in the 8th grade for anyone wondering.

As I type this I can hear my mom starting to ask what the **** is in the garage. LMAO!! Peace out, time to listen to the fireworks!
It’s entertaining to me because my mom never wants to go out. My dad always listens to her but lately he’s been putting his foot down! She always ruins fun weekend plans by saying we need to grocery shop or do this instead.

My dad getting this viper equals fun weekends for me and him. She just doesn’t want the car because it isn’t practical, it’s too fast, and too flashy.

She’s trying to ruin the fun and it’s not working. As I type this they are about a 5 on my argument-o-meter. They are getting louder and cursing some. I have a recorder placed to record in its entirety.

Out of boredom this is a little source of entertainment I can get, so be it! Omg my mom just threw something, sounded like keys to the car. LMAO I am putting a sock in my mouth to keep from laughing because I just laughed a little loud!
They are at a maximum on my rating scale. They are screaming and yelling at each other. I bet the Viper is laughing its rear end off! Fortunately they are down stairs so I can hear them aloft. I just heard a bowl hit the floor and roll several times. My dad threw it because my mom said the name of the car was stupid and pointless.

I am laughing so hard right now my stomach is hurting and I can barely breathe! The neighbors grandma is over in their back yard and she could hear everything. As soon as he said the Viper turned him on more than she did the poor grandma next door shook her head and went inside. This is pure entertainment and I can’t stop laughing!
Omg over 4 hours later that was one heck of a slobber knocker! I just went to the kitchen after they went to separate rooms and there are broken dishes all over the place as well as torn open bags of food and cereal all over the place!! My dad prevailed and I get to go for a ride to school in the morning. Life couldn’t be any better.*still lmao*

A: you dont have much of a life so you to want to sit and make jokes about your parents

Q: Why do they charge a ridiculous $80,000 plus on old used classic cars from the 60s and 70s?
I think they’re a ripoff to be charged that much. New 8-cylinder sports cars cost like TransAMs and Camaro Z28s cost less than $20,000 back in 2002, and they have these dumb, old used cars probably with a million miles on them (literally), to be charged 4 times that?

I know they’re old, I know they’re restored, I know they’re from the far, far back from the 60s and 70s, but there’s no way I would pay that much for a car that worse off in ins true ability as opposed to what cars made from 2002 can do.

Comparing a 40 year old car to one just hald a decade old, the newer one is much more improved by comparison. I’d much rather spend $80,000 on a Dodge Viper than and old 60s Dodge Charger that is indeed slower than the Viper.

A: Because they can. If people are willing to pay, sellers can charge sky high prices.

Q: How would you call this race: Ford GT40, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Dodge Viper ACR, Ferrari 430SC?
Excepting the GT40, all of the above were reviewed in Road & Track, February 2008. The venue for this hypothetical contest is Infineon Raceway, Sears Point, CA, USA, involving forty laps of the American Motorcycle Association-spec seven-mile loop–the venue is used by CART, NASCAR, NHRA, IHRA, DHRA, &c., and as I understand things was recently added by Indy Racing League. If FIA chose this venue for a Formula One event, their preferred course would probably be the same one used by AMA for Superbike races.

Order and intervals of finish, given equal drivers, would be appreciated.

A: Well, the first thing to look at is the track… Infineon is a wonderful flowing track that places cars almost in constant transition, putting a premium on handling. This is one of my favorite tracks as a driver, and certainly one of the more challenging and more technical.

The Ford GT would seem to be well suited for this track… but I would have to go back to personal experience at having seen two Ford GTs at events at this track. Both suffered failures under less than stressful driving that required them leaving via a flatbed. As finishing is a requirment to winning, The Ford GT scores an impressive result on paper, but in the end, I don’t think it’s a genuine track car as was the original GT40. Mark it down for last place.

The Viper has made great strides in recent years as a track car. With the issues of the inadequate brakes of the earlier cars now firmly addressed, and small improvements all around, it’s a really great car, and one that should hold up (where some of the earlier cars might of been prone to ending the same as the GT). However, the nature of the track does not play to the Viper’s strong points, and the quickest part of the track (the esses) will work against it as the weakest handling car of the group. Mark it down for third (could easily get a better result at a different track with more straights and low speed corners).

Which brings us to the Corvette and the Ferrari. Both cars have alot of strengths… but ultimately it would come down to the power advantage of the Corvette against the chasis and braking advantage of the Ferrari. The ZR1 looks like it will be pretty amazing, but it would be a feat if it comes close to the Ferrari in terms of chasis balance, poise, and rigidity.

This would give the Ferrari an advantage in a couple key spots on the track, which should compensate for the couple spots where the ZR1 could really take advantage of it’s power. Giving a second place to the Corvette, and the winning spot to the Ferrari.

The longer the race, the more the advantage would go to the Ferrari, given the better balance and less power and weight, the Ferrari should also do better on brake and tire wear where the others would eventually lose time to both of these.

Q: Which car would you pick?
im 16 want something nice i was thinking porsche boxter, used dodge viper, corvette (not zo6), or a shelby gt350 or maybe 500. I really want a nice car i prefer the viper only because you dont see them and i can buy one for a resonable price and im paying for it whether you believe it or not

A: The Porsche Boxter is definitely the Chick Magnet. If your not looking for that then I would choose the Viper. Definite testosterone vehicle

ARRRR ARRRR

Q: Do you have to use a specific supercharger for certain cars?
Say I wanted to put a supercharger on a dodge viper, can I use the same super charger for a cheverolet camaro? or do I have to buy certain superchargers for certain cars?

A: The supercharger itself would be universal, but due to the different configurations of engines you need to adapt different mounting systems, different belt drive configurations, different electrical components if applicable to said supercharger, and also you would need to configure the way the outlet (the compressed side) of the charger was attached to the intake manifold of the vehicle, since all vary you would need different hoses and connectors to mate them properly. So its not as simple as unbolting it from one car and bolting in on another but yes the same device could be used.

Q: Should Dodge up the ante on the Viper to compete with the ZR1?
Should Dodge put a supercharger on the Viper to make a 750hp beast to slay the ZR1? Chevy had to supercharge their car to beat Dodge (Chevy boys are no longer allowed to complain about Ford using a supercharger), so should Dodge just put an end to the hp wars with a monster motored Viper? We have all seen Hennessey Vipers with 1000+ hp, so we know the Viper can handle it.
This super powered Viper would be such a small production run that it wouldn’t even register on Chrysler’s CAFE number though.
I do think they could have done a better job with the AC Viper. They should have tried to drop it down to 3000-3100 lbs.

A: dodge will probably do something similar to that in the near future ,because i don’t think they will let Chevy stay in the front spot for long ,especially if they can produce more horse power from the viper, its already a good selling car ,but to expensive for the average person to buy,so they should boost the power more on it,i think the will in the future though, one thing about dodge they wont talk about it like other car company’s do ,they will do it then talk about it,that’s the difference in them and other car makers, good luck .

Q: What type of racing or career is this?
Racing where you take Porshe’s, BMW’s, Viper’s, Maserati’s, Jaguar’s, Audi’s, or pretty much any other German, Italian, French car or any from europe some from America oh and cars ftrom Japan compete in this racing. This racing is represented in the Gran Turismo video game series better then any other video game. Regular sports cars are converted to have more power and performance and sponsers are added. Races can be on the famous Laguna Seca Raceway, Nurburgring, or Le Mans. An example of the cars used is the BMW M3 GTR, BMW Mclaren, Dodge Viper GTS, these aren’t cars that are one seated speed machines that are similer to formula one.

So what is this racing called?
What do I have to go through to become a racer in this racing?
Is it possible to become a racer from places in the Eastern U.S like is there a college I should go to or are these career path’s only available in California and Asia and Europe?

A: The closest thing to what you want is the US Touring Car Championship — learn more at www.ustcc.com. You become a racer in this series by getting out there and racing — typically in the US that means karts, then midgets, and eventually onto bigger and better series. There are karting organizations in the Northeast — just look around on the Web.

Q: Getting Dodge 8.0 V10 Exhaust to sound like Viper 8.3?
I have the dodge v10 8.0. I ran dual cat backs. The sound is amazing but it is way too loud. Does anyone know if I can use a certain muffler to give it the sound of the 8.3 Viper V10. Thanks

A: absolutely, get a two viper mufflers and cut em and use adapters to fit em up. Have a muffler shop do em. Or you can go to a performance center shop and look for a quite setup for your truck. I wouldn’t touch the converters but any muffler is fine, and another Dodge v8 or v6 may fit right up. try mopar.com or search engine or truck performance parts. Less noise will mean more backpressure so a store may sell you a special computer or fuel setup so you won’t lose any power. Don’t need that stuff. The noise is purposely tuned in for effect.

Q: will viper the TV show be on DVD?
Viper was an action adventure TV series about a special task force setup by the federal government to fight crime in fictional Metro City, California.
The weapon used by this force is an assault vehicle that masquerades as a Dodge Viper RT/10 roadster and coupe.
The show’s villians were often driving Dodge vehicle.

A: It was rumored to come out on DVD this year but nothing so far. I think it would do much better on DVD than it did on TV so they should give it a shot IMO. *;*

Q: Fastest/Hottest car 100k or less Used or New?
Ive seen that I can get an older lamborghini for under 100k but Im not looking for a 4 second 0-60, Im wanting 3.5 or less because I could spend 50k to get an older corvette doing under 4 seconds.

Im not talking Brand New, Im completely fine with Old as long as its in good condition.
I could buy a 2003-06 Dodge Viper and supercharge it?
Or do the same with a Vette Maybe?
Honestly I could buy a 1992-1995 viper for 20-40k and use the rest to make it incredibly fast, As you may see I do like the Dodge Viper, Ive wanted the car for quite some time, But I know for 100k I can get an older one like the 93 red with white stripes and make it crazy fast, with some lambo doors and neon lights just make the car sexy lol.

Name some other cars, maybe older American Muscles?
Dont say any Civics or anything that is good on gas, chances are if it gets good gas mileage its not meant to be fast and will look like crap, Im not interested in looking slow but killing in a race.

A: if you want a viper get a viper…

forget the older muscle cars, compared to modern cars they are slow, unless you do a lot of mods, which make it undriveable, and a ticket magnet…”

” but killing in a race.” races aren’t determined for the most part by how fast the car is, but by two other things…
your driving skills…
how much cahones you have…
if you are 25, and have been driving performance cars for 10 years, you might have skills…
if you are under 18, you have no business with a performance car with over 200hp

Q: What kind of gas do I use for my Cadillac DTS?

A: my freind has sts and runs 93 religiously, higher octane is always better

Q: What octan of gas does a cadillac DTS and DHS use.

A: it goes by years 80 -91 reglur

92 – 99 mid grade

2000 -1009 high test

Q: Which vehicle would use more gas, a Cadillac DTS(V8) or a Ford Mustang GT(V8)?
I am interested in getting either a Mustang GT or a Cadillac DTS, even though they aren`t in the same class of cars, one a sport car, and the other a luxury vehicle, i like both of them. now the Mustang GT that i saw was a V8 and the Cadillac DTS V8 is standard anyway, even though a Cadillac is larger than a Mustang both of them these particular vehicle are a V8 cyl.so which one would be better on gas, even though they are both gas guzzlers?

A: According to my sources, the Caddy gets 15/23 and the Stang gets 16/24. Shocking. Go for the stang.
Note: this is the 2009 DTS vs. the 2010 standard GT Mustang.
Hope this helps.
The reson for this is most likely because the Caddy has an automatic transmission, which uses more gas.

Q: Cadillac DTS Audi A6 or BMW 325xi?
I am going to be 16 and able to drive soon, and because of that my dad is buying a third vehicle. the price limit is $25,000, so i figured a used luxury/sports sedan would be the coolest in that range. With that said, out of an ‘06 Cadillac DTS, ‘06 Audi A6, or ‘06 BMW 325xi, which would be preferable or the “coolest” and why? Note, they are all almost identical in price.

A: If you can’t afford anything better, the 325xi is good enough. It has the AWD and reliability ratings that beat the Audi and Cadillac you mention.

While the BMW is your best bet, it’s not very impressive. The A6 is very good looking but Audi hasn’t impressed anyone with their reliability or crash test ratings in over 20 years. The Cadillac is just a GM vehicle and I’d avoid anything that’s built in a GM facility.

Q: A luxurious 02 Mercedes S430 at 90k miles for $20K, OR an 2002 Cadillac Deville DTS at 40k miles for $18k?
I’m looking to purchase a used auto around 20k. I like the 2002 S430 but it has high miles which most say isn’t a problem for the Mercedes which should go 300+ if pampered. I also like the 2002 Cadillac DTS. For my price range ($20k)they come at half the mileage as the S430’s do. Depreciation value, maintenance, quality, and style as factors which would you choose? OR I can go 2005 Pontiac Bonneville at 20k miles (practically new) for $18k. What do you think Yahoo!’s

A: It all depends on what you like. I am going through the same delima. I would say no to the S430 just cause the high mileage, even though it is a Benz things still go wrong with high mileage. If you want to ride real clean then get the Deville DTS. But if you want to get something brandnew or with less miles and you want to stay with the big car theme, get you a Mercury Marauder which you can get for about 23K or a Gran Marquis. Both of which still look real good.

Q: PLEASE HELP: low oil pressure STOP engine 2006 CADILLAC DTS?
Hi guys/gals,
I have a 2006 Cadillac DTS. I just got my car out of Cresmont Dealership & they ran a check on my car & replaced the battery and i think un-needed tire rods for $1200.00 CASH which was all my savings. I get my car back and its saying Low oil pressure, stop engine AS WELL AS its smelling like something was burning. They told me in order to find out what it is i have to pay for ANOTHER check as they say their is DIFFRENT computerized checks & this type of check was not paid for so i will have to pay again. I DONT HAVE THAT MONEY. I gave them everything & i feel like they are trying to get over on me. So now i need you guys help. What am i supposed to do and what could it be? I’m going to pick the car up from them tommorow and i am on my own. I’m hoping i can use a local shop to fix the problem. Someone/Everyone please help me out here. I dont know what to do and i am super low on funds… Thanks SO MUCH in advance!

A: check the oil level, you say you smelled burning. Could be something silly, like an oil filer leaking or a drain plug leaking. if it needs oil top it up. My car burns some oil between oil changes, so i must add some as the light comes on.

Q: I own a 2003 Cadillac DTS and the CHECK COOLANT LEVEL indicator is still on….?
I checked the coolant level in the reservoir and it was fine. I called a local auto shop and they said it sounds like a bad ECT sensor (engine coolant temperature sensor). The shop said they could replace the part for $185. The actual part costs $10.99. I did a little research on this and decided i could do it myself…. I installed a new ECT sensor and then replenished the reservoir with GM-Dexcool. I used the Chilton manual and the installation was a success- or so i thought. It has been 4 days since i have done this and the “CHECK COOLANT LEVEL” light still comes on. There are no leaks. Did i miss something? What else could the problem be? Please help! Thanks.

A: when the engine is COLD

check the level in the radiator – there may be a plug in your fill hose
of a hole in it – so it won’t siphon into the radiator

all the best

Q: Anybody who owns or has owned a Cadillac?
I would like your advise as to the value and quality of a used Cadillac and if these cars seem to be worth the money. #1 1996 Eldorado in Ex. condition with 130k miles black with black int. tint on the windows and a fresh air conditioning charge for $2800
or
#2 2000 Cadillac Deville DTS 115k miles fully loaded NAV / touchscreen stereo and new tires for $3800
Both are rust free Arizona cars.
I would just like to know if these cars are well built how much it is to maintain them, and things like that. would it be a good first car or a 2nd family car?

A: I have owned a 2001 DHS Deville since 2004 and I’ve put over 120K miles on it so far. It now has 193K miles on it and it still runs great, still looks great and still drives like a dream.

The Northstar V8 is GMs best engine and the car is powerful, smooth and elegent. But, it’s an oil burner, always has been. Youjust have to make sure the car never runs hot and never runs low on oil.

My BiL owns a 1995 Eldo. Same thing. It’s been an excellent car for him.

Any old high mileage car is going to need frequent maintenance. It’s a fact of life. There is no escaping it. The Caddy is no more expensive to repair than an Impala or a Taurus and it’s twice the car.

The price of these cars seems fair. But you must have them inspected by a certified mechanic before making any commitment to buy. If you want a family car, don’t buy the 2 door Eldorado. It’s a real PITA to get into that back seat.

Cadillac, America’s best luxury car. Always has been, always will be.

Q: Is Cadillac Deville DTS is a good car or not?
Well, we are looking forward to 2001 Cadillac Deville DTS. We like Lincoln town car but little more costly. We found this Cadillac for sale is that we can afford it. And it have 78,000 Miles on it.
I am wondering if this car is a good car.
Because I look at People reviews and rated this car in Kelly Blue Books.com and some people complain about any parts kept breaking down in after 50,000 miles and sooo expensive to repairs the part. Like window motor cost $1,000+ each.
Window motor, dash board, engine crack, using 3 qt of oil etc. . . broke down.

Please Comment and let me know if it’s not a good car.
Because I don’t want to spend too much money to repair.

People saying to me Lincoln Town Car is a REALY good car and Last lot longer. Also very Smooth riding.
One of my neighbor have Lincoln town car and it have 439,000 miles on it. It still runs great and oringinal powertrain.

So If it not a good car, We will look forward to Lincoln Town Car (1998 – 2003).

Thanks!!!!!!!

A: If this Caddy is equipped with the Northstar engine, beware — the Northstar, a powerful and almost silent V8 has an inherent cooling failure issue that STILL hasn’t been resolved even though GM has known about it for ten years. Problems with leaking coolant from the intake manifold causes major engine damage to the aluminum components and, get this, the engine cannot be rebuilt except by a certified GM specialist and he ain’t located in the dealerships. They don’t even sell a rebuild kit for the engine, you have to buy a REPLACEMENT engine when they break internally. I would be somewhat skeptical about buying an 8 year old DTS unless you knew for sure it has been maintained to a fault.

Q: How do you get a 2000 Cadillac DTS out of Anti-Theft mode?
This problem crept up recently, I have an auto starter for my 2000 DTS, and recently I cannot start the car by simply putting the key in the ignition. Everything works, but the engine does not start. I read that the auto starter interferes with the Anti-Theft mode and does not allow the car to start with a key. Well its annoying that I can’t just start my car with my normal key.

How do I disable the Anti-Theft mode so I can use my key normally?

A: turn the wheel a little to the right them turn the key, happens all the time

Q: cadillac decille DTS question?
what type of fuel does it uses like doe example unleaded, premium. 4.6 L L37 Northstar V8
cadillac deville DTS

A: Your question is very hard to understand.

is “decille” = Diesel?
Premium unleaded would be the answer assuming it runs on gasoline.

Certain Cadillacs have been made with a diesel motor, although not for a while in the States.

Q: Why did Cadillac change all their car names to 3 letters?
I had a Deville a few years ago and now they are all like DTS, BTS, CTS?? It used to be a lot easier to know the differences, but now its confusing. Am I the only one that thinks this? Thank you in advance for any answers.

A: The three letter names are abbreviations. DTS = De ville Touring Sedan STS = Seville Touring Sedan etc.

Q: How to turn on 2001 deville TPMS system?
I have a 2001 cadillac deville dts with tire pressure monitors, but in the driver information panel, it doesn’t scroll through the different wheel pressures. When I read a tsb it says you can enable or disable through a scan tool or a tech 2. I used a snap on tool which shows what the monitors are reading, but it isn’t turning the system back on in the dash readout. If i scroll through the setting using the dash buttons, the enable/disable is missing as shown in the owner’s manual. Any help?

A: The tech 2 can acess the programming in the IPC and enable the tire monitiring.

I had to do that when replacing faulty IPC unit.

I don’t know if snap-on, matco, mac or otc scanner have that ability with out being enhanced. basic scanners are limited in abilities.

Q: Which holds their value better, a Cadillac or an Infiniti?
6 months ago, I traded my awesome Cadillac STS, 1994 in towards another car, a 2003 Infiniti g35.
I miss my car still, the Infiniti is just too small it seems. So I went looking today, and I found a Cad DTS for sale at a dealership.
I can swap them and it will raise my payment by 18.00 a month.
I`m so tempted, but I keep thinking about why I traded my Cad in the first place, it seems when they get around 100,00+ on them, they start falling apart. I took great care of it, but it was costing me money left and right, it also had that great oil leak the Northstars are known for.
My step-dad talked me into the Infiniti, he used to sell them and thinks they are good for 200,00+ as the motors are excellent.
Since I`ve had it, minor little things are breaking. The power window is off track, the cd player doesn`t work, trim coming off, but the oil looks brand new. (the rest of the thing might fall apart around me, BUT THE MOTOR IS GREAT!)
I`m just wondering if I am better off keeping it and getting used to the size, or go ahead and get the Cad.

A: Regardless of which car you prefer to drive – an Infiniti will hold it’s value much better than a Cadillac will.
